New Member in my early 60's and retired... I am on the fence about buying one. It is not about the money, more of a question of whether or not to pull the trigger. My wife does not ride, would not ride.

I currently have a Walmart bike with a little bike kit engine that I ride on bike paths and greenways in Florida (yeah, I cheat)... I live in a fairly urban area and I don't really like riding in traffic - but I like being outdoors and puttering around. But as you know... theses engines are unreliable..

I was thinking I would ride this along some of the levees and Everglades near me, maybe strapping it on my Hitch haul or similar hitch type transport. to go places to ride and of course some short trips back and forth to the local market.

I am not really in a rural environment. Am I too old and too crazy?

Also, is there still a long wait list for these?

I live in a busy town, i run errands on mine all the time. fit a milk crate and have at it. I'll prob never put mine in the dirt to any real capacity, if i wanted to do that id buy an off road specific bike. i put mine on a rail pretty regular on the back of my old car or suv and haul it all sorts of places.

There's still a long wait list for these, but if it's not a money issue you can buy one of the used ones that pop up and pay to have it transported to you (or go pick it up).
If you think it would suit your riding, go for it, it's a lot of fun. If I were looking to ride on greenways and bike paths I would probably buy a fun ebike instead though - would also be easier to load onto a bumper carrier and even if it's one without pedals, people don't really question an electric bike zipping around unless you're going at excessive speed.

I think I want the ability to do some local driving as well as some Everglades trail riding.... Should I expect to pay a premium over the $3,895 list price?

I am 63. You are neither old nor crazy. I ride a Honda CRF450L and my wife rides a CT125 Trail. She complains that the transmission is very jerky. There is no clutch lever so the bike just dumps the clutch with every shift, making it a very jerky experience till you figure out how to do it. Our strategy is to upshift very early through the gears, and then when stopping, wait until you are about 15-18 mph to start down shifting as you stop. Shift up early, shift down late. That is how we manage it. Others may do it differently. But it is a great little bike with plenty of power, and the cargo area is really big so you can lash a milk crate or large box to it and go shopping haha. And, everyone who sees it just loves the look of it!! Some dealers have one in stock, others do not. I had to call every dealer in my state to locate one, which was on the other side of the state. But we made the trip, got the bike, and took it home in a U-Haul 10' truck. Because I was not about to ride a brand new 125 for what would be an all-day ride in cold weather LOL. Short answer: call around, and if you need to travel to get it, get it. And know that everyone looks cool on a Trail 125. Everyone!

Normally, no. But expect another $1000 or so on top of that for taxes, various fees, registration, etc. and add whatever it will cost to go pick it up, in case travel is involved.
