Super Cub is a new 2021 ANIME series with a Super Cub and has a CT-90 and a CT-110 in it. Everyone familiar with these motorcycles shall notice all of the fine details of operating these bikes. I like the classical music and the four seasons of Japan scenery with Mt. Fuji
in the distance. Driving on the left like in UK but with US traffic signals except the traffic lights are RED YELLOW & BLUE! The story has 3 high school girls becoming friends though their shared interest in Honda Cubs.

The 12 episodes in series 1 are a lot of fun and nice to watch.
(Sorry, but the WEB site is broken and I can't upload any pictures.)

Watch
Funimation - English subtitles

Blu-Ray
- Amazon pre-order end of May 2022 release

regards,

Breaking it down to the general classifications, it's a "fine weather (or fine days) to be carefree" anime, as well as a coming of age anime. The thing with shows like this is they're a dime a dozen, so it comes down to the specifics of execution. You can think of it as how John Wayne films were all oh so similar: if you saw John Wayne wearing a cowboy hat, you knew exactly what you were getting. Didn't make it bad, just didn't make it unique.

Generally speaking, I enjoyed it quite a bit. I thought the series was pretty interesting as someone who bought a CT125, and also the vintage: At various points, despite seeing new bikes in the series, it does dunk on the 125's a little and favors the old CT110s. It also brought up some interesting data points considering Honda worked with the animation company to get all the little details right: It sounds like a Honda Cub, it looks like a Honda Cub, and even has little idiosyncrasies that are non-obvious for the Honda Cub, like a right side side stand.

It's not quite as far fetched as Girl's Last tour. Something about a small simple machine bringing you out into the strange unknown. Not sure how many Kettenkrads are left.

There really was only one far fetched point of the series that felt forced, the story arc to force Shii from her Moulton bicycle and on to a motorcycle instead. That was pretty decently far fetched. Like the bike gets destroyed, the girl is unable to move, and her phone somehow survives being dunked in a river after a fall? Everything else in the series is fairly reasonable.

The other part that humored me about the show is that illegal actions in general aren't allowed to be shown, with some minor exceptions where they show a disclaimer. An example is that it used to be fairly common to see anime depict a girl sitting on the back of a bicycle while the guy pedaled. E.g. Full Metal Panic. They can't actually depict it that way now, to the point that Nozaki-kun even made an entire episode about it.

Now, that means that the super cub episode where she drags around a heavy trailer, massively under braked and definitely dangerous, was probably legal 😂
