No Brake Light with just Rear Brake Pedal?

Is it correct that the brake pedal alone does NOT illuminate the brake light? The front brake lever does illuminate it, but not the rear.

I've confirmed this is the same behavior as at least one other 2021 Trail, owned by a friend.

You may need to adjust the switch- the black.plastic bit that attaches to the pedal with a spring
