How'd they get the car off?!

EDIT: Not the op, that's definitely a JA55.
They use the same lifting gear ...

Hello all! I have a JA65 and I've been enjoying this bike a ton. I enjoy it so much that I am trying to best to keep it in tip-top shape. So I decided to do the "break-in oil change" at 243 miles vs what the owner manual says. (Being apart of the "Wide Open Throttle" gang (@BaldRider ), I figured frequent oil and oil filter changes along with a gold plug will maximize the lifespan of my JA65. Now time for my question (per usual 😅🤣). I watched a video from @BaldRider about changing the oil in his trail, and he noted about the discrepancy in the owner's manual about how much oil to add.
Well I just did the 600 mile oil change on my 2024. And like you I had previously seen the same video from @BaldRider. So erring on the side of caution, I purchased 2 qt of oil to be ready for this possible anomaly. However, after draining (front tire down) oil+new filter, allowing engine to run after change, and checking oil again (dipstick not screwed in), mine took exactly the 0.9 US quart as listed in the manual.
And I have absolutely nothing bad to say about @BaldRider. If anything, it teaches us to seek help (answers) when needed, but also to simply exercise due diligence.
The old “trust but verify” has helped plenty through my many rotations on our blue marble.

Hi folks .... further to the above.

After cleaning everything up, with new oil and filter I continued .... I've done a further 1,200 miles round the Islands of northern Scotland.
Scotland across to Orkney, Orkney north to Shetland, and then the small ferry down to Fairisle where my brother lives. I'm the first to visit Fairisle on a motorcycle. The 'Adventure Cub' as I call her, is the first motorcycle to visit the UK's most remote inhabited Island!

The ferry isn't roll on roll off

Apologies, I digress. After a further 1,200 miles, and probably more on some of the roughest ferry crossing I and a motorcycle have ever been on .... I got to do an oil change at home. Oil and filter, the sump plug came up almost squeaky clean ...

Now that I know carbon is not magnetic, but a search shows that it can be, it can change its state with lots of variables. It CAN be magnetic.

I spread the 'sludge' on the paper towel ...

There were no metal particles whatsoever, as could be seem, on the paper towel or dissected oil filter. No mechanical noises, running as quietly and as sweetly as new, at now 3,500 miles.

Ready for The Wild Atlantic Way next (y)

I could do a Ride Report for the three weeks on the Scottish Islands visits. Plenty of photographs, crashed Heinkel 111, Distillery visits and life on the crofts if folk interested.

Thanks for looking

Mick
I'd love to see pictures of that Heinkel 111!
