Oil leak

Hey all,

I just changed my oil for the first time around 600 miles on my trail 125. I noticed after I changed the oil I have a small leak coming from the nut on the bottom. It isn’t dripping out but when I place my finger on the bolt I’m getting oil. Did I tighten it too much or not enough? Is it a washer issue?
Thanks

I'm no Mechanical Engineer but my guess is that you need a new Crush Washer. There's also a chance you over-torqued the drain bolt, which will also damage a Crush Washer. Regardless, it's good practice to replace them every time you change the oil, however many of us can get by with only doing them when they start to leak.

The good news is if you lay your Trail on it's side, you should be able to remove the bolt and replace the washer without loosing any oil. Just watch how tight you go with the drain plug.
