Hello, anyone installed an Opmid 1204 gauge on their US 2023 yet? I am having some issues with the gear indicator.

I have not, but did you configure it with settings for the 2023 CT125 JA65?

Item 1.4 front sprocket - 14t
Item 1.5 rear sprocket - 38t
Item 1.7 tire diameter - 576
Item 4.8 voltmeter correction - 0.8v (or whatever value corrects it to match the current battery voltage with key on, engine off)
Item 5.1 primary reduction ratio - 3.421
Item 5.2 first gear - 2.500
Item 5.3 second gear - 1.550
Item 5.4 third gear - 1.150
Item 5.5 fourth gear - 0.923
Item 5.6 fifth gear - NON

They also sell an updated model of the meter for the 2023 model with part number "M1208" that is able to use the OEM temperature sensor. The engine oil temp sensor on the new motor in the 2023 JA65 is apparently not compatible with their M1204 meter, so you can either switch the display to show a voltmeter instead, or use an oil drain plug bolt temp sensor they are releasing in July 2023 according to https://opmid-co-jp.translate.goog/?page_id=5236&_x_tr_sl=ja&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=en&_x_tr_pto=wapp

The gear indicator on the display does not use a direct gear position sensor to know which numbered gear is engaged like the neutral indicator light does. The stock sensor for that only picks up on whether the bike is in neutral or in gear, not which gear number. Instead the meter calculates what gear the bike is expected to be in, likely using engine RPM, gear ratios, and the vehicle speed sensor. This means it's not always going to be a perfect reading and you can probably throw it off by holding the shifter down and free-wheeling while in gear.

Thank you for the reply, I have all the correct parameters set, but other than Neutral and First the gear indicator is not accurate.

I just installed it with the temp sensor. The connectors are not compatible. It is a simple fix by cutting the factor connector with some room to spare, and the cutting the opmid connector. I soldered the connectors back, color to color and then connected it into the factory harness. The opmid connectors connect to each other when I soldered it on the factory sensor wire. Sealed it with shrink tape and then wrapped in electrical tape. I was able to cut out a lot of the extra opmid wasted wire and barely had to zip tie any. 5-10 minute job and it works perfectly on my 2023 Trail 125.
