Pay attention to the range on them, you probably don't want to buy a 16k RPM gauge and have the needle barely move on it, that could be hard to read.
I've never gone above 8k RPM and the highest I've seen the engine pushing on its own is ~7700 RPM if that helps. The OPMID cluster is configurable and it's set to 10k RPM max, works great.

This is the one pictured, though it's discontinued: https://japan.webike.net/products/24577163.html
Any tachometer that can be set for single-cylinder use should work. Expect that it may "lag".

Takegawa sell some add-on sweeping needle analog tach kits for the CT125.

Thanks dmonkey appreciate the info. What about the optimal ratio for the 125? Would something like this do the trick it's 4:1

Hi everyone;
‘I’ve purchased and am in the middle of fitting my Takegawa speedometer with tachometer. I can easily connect this instrument but can someone please instruct me on how to get the tachometer function wired up?
Im not sure where to wire the tachometer cable.
Thanks for any instruction with this. I just can’t decipher the Japanese instructions.👍

Per Takegawa's instructions for the CT125 they want you to run the brown RPM/tachometer wire that they included to the pink/blue connection on the ignition coil. The ignition coil is located under the plastics that cover the "spine" of the bike where you have a center carrier mounted.

I would recommend downloading the Japanese instructions PDF from that link, then upload it to Google Translate for documents to do a rough machine translation of it to English.

Once you have it set up I would be curious to hear your thoughts on the Super Multi TFT Meter. I have both that and an OPMID on hand and haven't gotten around to deciding on or installing either.
One of my initial concerns for the Takegawa meter was units of measure. I contacted Takegawa directly about this and they said it cannot be changed. I contacted Webike about it and they wrote "Changes are not allowed in Japan and are not mentioned in the instruction manual" but then said it could be changed and provided the instructions to switch between kilometers and miles. The only other negative impression I had of it is that the analog tachometer has much more range than what's usable on the CT125's engine. The integrated air fuel ratio display seemed like a really nice feature if you wanted to add a bung to the exhaust, install an o2 sensor, and wire that up.

webike doesn't carry it any more but the gauge itself is available. I have bought Daytona gauges from this place in the past: https://www.caferacerwebshop.com/en/daytona-48mm-velona-tacho-black-9000-rpm.html

Thank you so much D Monkey, I really appreciate the instruction you’ve given. I Just couldn’t get things translated in English via apps etc. Thank you again.👍

Anyone know for sure if the Opmid speedometer/multimeter is compatible with the new 2022 Honda CT125 Trail Bike? Can't seem to find a 100% true answer anywhere else.
Has anyone put one of these on the 2023. I understand the engine has changed to the one used on the Super Cub in 2023 but not sure. I just purchased one but will not be picking it up until next week.

Yes it's been done, the temp sensor has different wiring and there are different settings you need to program it with.

There's an OPMID temp sensor drain plug that can be used to avoid messing with the temp sensor wiring, but then that wire has to be routed somewhere and looks a bit out of place.

Honestly sucks that there's no small multimeter for the trail, I'd get one if it were only same-size/slightly bigger than stock, and not just a big box that looks like it can break easily.
That would be the Opmid.
Has programmable speedo for tire size, sprockets size/combo, tach (max/range programmable RPM display, e.g. 10k, 12k), max temperature warning (settable to whatever temp you choose), fuel gauge, ABS warning and the other indicators that OEM/Honda featured. It's approx same size as OEM, has adjustable brightness (actually easy to see/view in bright daylight, unlike the original meter). More stuff I haven't mentioned (odo, trip meters, clock, gear indicator...). Bought mine (2021 CT125) last year on black Friday sub-$200.
