Overlanding Setups with the CT125

In my search for an addition to my outdoor exploration setup I immediately put a down payment on a CT125 once it was announced for Canada. I couldn't help but be fascinated by this bike's capabilities. As an avid outdoorsman, I was on the look out for a motorcycle that that I could strap to the back of my truck and take out to Crown Land (Public Land in Canada).

One of the things that caught my attention is the CT125's portability, sturdy frame, suspension, and high ground clearance. But what I appreciate the most that it can be used for day-to-day commuting or running errands around town.

I can't wait to add the Honda CT125 to my overlanding setup so any of you have setups to share with the CT125 I'm starting this thread to share and capture the CT125 in the wild.

Definitely going to want a non-OEM setup for the mirrors for the last one. Like the ball RAM mount style ones would probably work really well for that.

Something that comes up a bit is that the bike is very, very heavy. It can make campers go tongue light when towing. Aside from that, there's a few people who tow their bikes, or have them on the front of the vehicle (I'd want it on the back, too many bugs around here to have it on the front).

I plan to use mine for a local run-about when we travel. We do the whole off-road adventure travel thing as well aka "overland", sorry, I've grown to hate the term. I took it to a classic Harley/Indian Rally this past weekend to toot around on and I drug it up there with my motorcycle trailer but I could have easily put it on the hitch carrier as well. It's 259 lbs, that's no heavier than a four-stroke dirt bike, with the hitch carrier you're slightly over 300 lbs on the hitch.

Nice! I have also grown to dislike the term. Let’s call it what it is in North America, “car/truck camping”. Lol

Great pics!

The trail is definitely great for running errands to the grocery store, local farm stand, hardware store, etc. I start Door Dashing tomorrow and have my dry bags all set up for camping. I will also use it to commute to work and hit the local logging roads for berries and fish. Economical, fun and useful. What more could you ask for?

On occasion I have done Shipt grocery delivery on my Trail. I enjoy that it literally pays me to ride which is something I'd be doing for fun anyway, it's a bit like being sent on "quests" or to rally / poker run checkpoints which is gamification that I enjoy, and it's sent me to enough different locations that I've become more familiar with the area I live in where I now know my way around more streets and neighborhoods. Not something I'd want to rely on as a source of income, but it's a nice excuse to get out and ride. If you haven't transported fountain drinks on a motorcycle before, doubling up the lids is a very effective way to reduce spills. That's how I transport them in cup holders on my motorcycles.

Fountain drinks on a motorcycle... whew! That's something I never even thought about. I have a hard enough time keeping one from spilling in the car!
