I’ve spent the last several years putting 150k miles on my 2017 Africa Twin (round one was 100k, round two is close to 50k). Several big mileage trips, covering all of the U.S. (including Alaska), Canada (including Newfoundland) and Baja. Central and South America are planned for the next two years.

Setup is for 2Up, two month trip covering around 10k miles. I like not having the trailer, but it was the right tool for that adventure. Trailer is not going to CA/SA!

I’ve wanted one of these CT’s for a while, and one finally popped up in Spokane. Bought unseen and took an hour flight from Seattle to Spokane, rented a truck and brought it home. The moto gods were smiling and arranged for the green rental (not my doing!).

I immediately swapped to a 13t front sprocket; eliminated the mirrors (single double take on left side below grip, will probably add right side). 244’s 3” are mounted. Put the magnetic drain plug in place before any miles and replaced the new oil with new oil.

Next project is some wiring, and building a dual Rigid (D-Series Midnight) spotlight setup to replace the headlight, and adding dual Morimoto HXB Yellow Pods. These lights will be controlled via two Skene IQ-275 which allow the lights to run at 50% normal, while auto switching to 100% when hi-beams are active.

I am considering & seeking recommendations for simple power mods for now. Exhaust system, intake, and fuel injector. I’m open to replacing the cylinder and spark plug. Also researching the DHM 2022+ Grom 149cc kit that (???) has the same engine as the 2023 CT125 (JA65).

I’ve resolved that I have a big bike for big trips, and so far I’m enjoying the little bike for around town stuff. I ride year round in the Seattle rain & fog, everything but sub 40 deg. temps. That gives me a riding season of ~350 days a year. I think the CT will be my 30 year bike, so I don’t mind investing time/money into making it mine.

Every mile so far I have this smile. And my inside voice keeps looking at people and the word I hear repeated is, “jealous”.

Here's a upgrade suggestion .... 😉
Harbor Freight Apache 4800 Waterproof case. Almost a perfect color match.
