Passenger seat and foot peg combo?

I’m looking to get a passenger seat or replace the The stock seat and add passenger foot pegs so I can take my girlfriend on rides. I would enjoy hearing some input on anyone’s experience of do’s and don’ts. I’ve seen the longer seat that covers the rear rack bar that always hits my tailbone was wondering if anyone has good reviews from the one I have been looking at on eBay. Also I have no idea which good foot pegs to purchase. I appreciate anyone’s input thank you!

This gentleman has put together a series of videos on assembling the OEM (for Asian markets) foot pegs and tapping the swingarm to install them and mount a passenger seat. You can also buy passenger pegs assembled from Beezdeals. I have not seen complaints from anyone who installed them that way, just that you need to be patient with tapping the holes. I have seen people re-sell the clamp on passenger pegs after not being satisfied with them.

You can. actually... those are the pegs i used. I made a mount for them though. if it matters, while they will fold, they do NOT fold up and -stay- up.

heres how i did mine. i had a post on here showing how i made them... oddly, the pics arent showing up even though the hosting on my end is fine. weird.

obviously, i made this part:

but i did use those exact same pegs.

im not a fan of clamp on pegs, never was.

If I was reordering I would order the OEM style and tap the mounting holes. These are fine though

Mine are identical to yours, on my cub and trail. Didn't drill any holes

I have the pegs AZ7000' posted. If you have passengers that will constantly be riding with you then i would say the OEMs will have a better life. If you are like me and take your SO out to do some lite duty exploring neighborhoods and the occasional construction site but mostly ride solo then the clamp on ones will be good enough. I can slap them on or off in 2min and they haven't scuffed up my swingarm paint.

Thanks for pics. I think I will drill through and run a bolt through and blue locktite them along with a lock washer. I will rarely have a passenger.

Very informative video on the OEM install. I got a set last night on Beezbay deals along with the large passenger seat pad. That fella did an excellent job installing those. I know how to tap and it is a tedious operation when freehanding the drill and needing to keep parallel with the frame or risk an off camber hole. I too need a new set of drill bits before I center punch the frame bosses.

Backwoods.. thanks for the kind words. I had machinists tell me after I posted those videos that they could do the drilling and tapping job in less than an hour, but I am old and slow. The videos were actually a four part series. Part 1, 2, and 3 are linked in this thread back a few posts. The payoff to all the work was Part 4. Here is Part 4:

For true OEM, I think still your only option is buying the parts from Webike or another out of the US Honda vendor, and assembling them yourself, or buying them used on an auction site in Japan. beezdeals.com sells a set that it would take an expert to tell that they aren't OEM. See:
https://beezdeals.com/product/rear-passenger-pegs-set-honda-ct125-trail-125/ If I had to do it again, I'd but them from beezdeals.com. That option didn't exist when the Trail 125 was introduced in the USA. Just like the in the USA, rear pegs didn't come on the CT125s sold in Thailand, but right from the start the shops there were drilling and tapping the bungs and installing them. If you do it, don't forget to order the OEM heat shield for the exhaust as well.

I put the Revolution passenger pegs from Beezdeals on both of mine and I love it. Bolts right on in original factory holes. Very high quality!

To clarify, both of the Revolution rear pegs that Beezdeals sells don't bolt into the original holes in the swingarms that come on the CT125s with rear pegs from the factory, but rather they bolt into pre-existing holes not designed for the OEM footpegs and not on the swingarms. They are certainly a quality item and a lot easier to install than installing the OEM rear pegs on the swing arms on the USA and Canadian Trail 125s.

where are people sourcing the OEM pegs in the US? Id love a set myself.
You might take a look on eBay, too. Beez lists some of their more popular offerings there, but not all of them. At the time I bought rear pegs, Beez wasn't listing the OEM-style ones on eBay. So I simply messaged Beez and asked if they would price match the lowest priced Thai seller I found on eBay, including shipping charges. Beez agreed to and gave a pretty darn good deal.
I wasn't aware that the Beez version weren't actually Honda mfd. parts 'til I read Vintage Garage's post just now. Beez version: they're solid built, very strong, excellent paint/coat/finish, seemd to fit like a factory part, and they position the pillion's feet in comfortable and safe location (note that these OEM-styles drop down a little, extending below the swing arm, as compared to clamp-ons and some others).
Unlike our highly skilled Donk member m-in-sc, I'm not as much of a master as he at hand-tapping (his tapped holes look great!), so to drill/tap the bungs I actually removed the swing arm entirely and machine drilled & tapped deeper holes than what I could have with a hand drill and manual tap. This allowed the use of longer SS bolts with substantial button heads, instead of the shorter socket caps the pegs came with. In the end, I'm actually glad I'd removed/disassembled the swing arm & parts because I discovered that Honda had assembled my bike with virutally zero grease on the long bolt and the other parts too, so it presented the opportunity to reassemble and lube it all up well (mostly as an anti-corrosion measure).

I think the only visual difference between these and OEM is the washer between the main rubber that your foot rests on and the metal. The washer protects the rubber when you raise and lower the pages. The washer is just as good as OEM, just different, and nobody will ever know they aren't OEM. Since they aren't exactly OEM, beezdeals lists them as "Other" instead of "Genuine":

I'll be honest, when i was doing the bronze swingarm bushings.. a year later or so, it would have been MUCH easier to do it on the mill (or drill press) than how i did it by hand, off the bike. The funny thing is, is that since i got the XR, i'll probably never use the passenger pegs on the trail again, especially since i fitted a basket rack last year which negates the use of a seat pad & angie prefers the XR IF we ever 2 up on something similar again. I already removed them a few mos ago.

I should probably sell the pegs and seat pad as i'll never use them again.

I'm in the market for a rear seat pad if you're considering selling, not sure what style yours is though.
