Seat lock bar

Has anyone left the bar off so that the seat can be lifted without using the key? Perhaps a friend, that way not one of us would violate a degree of safety?

If you goal is to eliminate the need for a key, I think you'd be better off rigging a pull or twist handle to the release cable rather than removing the latch mechanism. Would avoid the seat flopping around or damaging the front hinge hardware by putting all the stress on it.

My 1975 doesn't have a rear latch and is almost 50 years old FWIW. I wouldn't sweat the extra stress...

I'm guessing I will be soon corrected that it isn't the same bike! 😂😂

I wish the underseat had a storage spot for my wallet or Iphone, etc. I like the fact that it locks. It need a cubby hole with a waterproof snap on lid under there.
