First time posting! Looking for advice on how to make an amazing fishing trip on my Trail 125 in Alaska. I live in Sonora, Ca - so recommendations for getting the bike there (maybe that recommendation is riding it) and the best places (think beautiful with excellent river fishing) to make my route. Also which month would be best? I'm fine with camping or staying in lodging. I've never been to Alaska but from what I've read - it's the kind of place I hope to make a journey through. I'm ok with a 2-3 week trip in all. IMG_9903.JPG

Welcome.

When I was planning a trip to Deadhorse in a car (that I still haven’t taken), I was giving myself a month and that still felt rushed. That time also included driving straight through from Southern California to Seattle and hitting the Canadian border on day 2. When you go is really dictated by where you plan to go. We were/are shooting for late July/early August for Deadhorse because that's supposed to be the least dramatic time to be on the Dalton.

l don't recommend riding it there unless you have a lot more time than 3 weeks. The simplest solution is either to put it in the bed of a truck or get a hitch carrier.

Thanks for the feedback. I’m after whichever season is most beautiful and the river fishing is best. I have a hitch carrier for my SUV but it’s my wife’s main vehicle for our kiddos. It sounds like I may need to lengthen my trip to accommodate travel time up there and back. Maybe 6 weeks then.

Again, it depends on where. Our month trip included a week in Canada before getting to Alaska and then another week in Alaska to get to Deadhorse. Two more weeks to do the same in reverse. Total trip is 8000 miles and we don't want to travel more than 200-250 miles in a day. If you aren't going quite that far or want to travel more miles per day, you don't need as much time.
