Hi Guys, today I received and fitted the new Diablo seat that I've been waiting for. It's only half as high as the stock seat and, although it's harder, it's much more comfortable than the stock seat, mainly because it's shaped correctly and spreads the load evenly. It looks great too! I decided to remove the huge, ugly, and heavy stock rack as I'm expecting delivery of a small, much lighter rack any day. This meant removing the air intake snorkel, so I have pointed the rubber section downwards, for the time being, to stop any rain from getting in. I have a replacement air box with a mesh intake on order. I really like the way the Ct looks without a rack but I will need a small rack to carry a bag now and then. I'm just waiting for front fender height adjustment brackets to arrive, a Diablo exhaust, studded, metal foot peg inserts to replace the rubbers, and a custom number plate... I still want to change the tires for something wider but can't decide on make, tread, etc. Anyway, here are a couple of photos of the new seat and the naked rear fender...

Where do you get a custom number plate?
Here in Australia is a government-run personalized plate section called My Plates.... you can choose to personalize the letters & numbers or keep what you've got and personalize the plate itself, colors, patterns, different designs, etc. it's pretty good and you do the whole thing on-line, you can pick your new plates up or have them delivered. If you have them delivered you then have 7 days to drop off your old plates at a post office or licensing center.... https://www.myplates.com.au/#/

Another thing to love about Australia. That’s cool! I’m in the US, so I’ll figure out another way!

Nice bike! Funny that here in Texas we use the same site myplates.com.

Very nice and looks comfortable!
Hi Gene... it's actually harder than the stock seat but because of its shape, it seems to spread the load evenly across the whole surface, instead of being perched on one area. When I tried it out on a ride I was expecting it to be uncomfortable, but I was pleasantly surprised by how good it felt, I'm very happy with it and it just looks so much better than the stock seat and is super light...

Hi Hansi, I'm a short 5'3" woman, do you think the Diablo seat would help me lower the height? I'm also looking at possibilities of reducing weight, like removing the rack on the back.

Tks

I cant speak for the seat but lightening the bike sure seems like it will be a challenge, keeping the stock tires are lighter and lower at least. I cant think of any item I wouldn't miss that I would take off. She's just a lil red pig! (taken from the days of the XR650 hondas that were known as the BRP's or Big Red Pigs in Baja!)

Hi bmou... yes, the Diablo seat is half the height of the stock seat, so you can definitely reduce the overall height of the bike that way. Fitting adjustable shock absorbers is another way of reducing the height by a couple of centimeters, also you can set them on soft so that when you sit on the bike it sinks a bit lower. The rear rack weighs a ton so definitely an easy way to reduce some of the weight. Depending on how far you want to go, exchanging the heavy exhaust for a lighter one is another possibility... if you order a Diablo seat make sure you order it direct from K-Speed in Japan. I have bought a number of items from dealers in Thailand that turned out to be fakes. Apparently, it's a huge business there to copy well-known makes and sell them on eBay, etc. K-Speed are the makers of Diablo...
