Just installed the rack on the new cub, just trying to decide what to mount on it? I have a small apache case I was thinking about, also was wondering if the make a smaller milk crate for it? This will probably end up as the wife's bike so it's gotta look nice.

I found a mini crate at Walmart for 1.00, it's a little to mini if I'm honest. I also have an apache 2800 that may work? Wrong color though. I am not a fan of chrome and the longer I look at the rack the more I don't like the rack being the only chrome on the bike, I called the local powder coating shop and they want 100 to powder coat it so that's out, looking at spray painting the rack black anyone have experience painting chrome?

$100 is a good price, considering they have to remove the chrome. Pay the man. Do it right.

if nothing else get them to blast it for paint.
I was actually thinking about picking up a cheap sandblasting gun, all I need to do is scuff the chrome finish up so the paint will stick, I can do that for around 30 dollars, plus if I have one I'm sure I will find more stuff to do.

you know, the other side of it is, ask if you can get some other parts done at the same time since you seem to want to black the bike out. shifter, etc. might toss them in for the same $. powdercoating is def the best way. but still... theres options. But 100 bucks really isnt bad overall.

You are right, I am trying to decide if I want to invest the money in setting up my own small powder coat system, for less than 200 I can do any small parts I want. I had one 20 yrs ago and it was surprisingly easy-to-use. The only limitation is the size of your oven. I am retired now so I can use another hobby, lol

BTW I ordered this shifter, if I like it I will order another one for the trail 125. Not a fan of the heel toe shifter. Should look good on the cub anyway and be easier for a beginner like my wife to use. Should be here today so I will post a pic of the install, it's a brisk 14 degrees with windblown snow here so I probably won't ride.

I live 1 mile from the post office, my package went out at 8am this morning and was just delivered at 630 pm, this is typical for yankton sd. I have to say the fit and finish is to notch, my first time dealing with hammer head design, so far I am impressed with shipping and quality of part, I hope not to need customer service, lol. I will install it tomorrow and post pics on bike

makes sense. a local guy here just built his own over the summer, does well w it on his hobbies and has made enough to pay for the whole rig doing side jobs plus.

I have a hammerhead shifter like that on my grom w the 2t motor, the build quality is very, very good on their stuff.

It's currently 25 degrees here so time to install the new shifter, install was so easy however I may have an issue, the shaft may be to short (insert joke here). As soon as it hits the 30s I will ride it and see. Stay tuned.

After further research and reading the site info, I ordered the oem shifter for size 8 9 shoes which will fit my wife, for me I need to order the 20mm offset for 11 12 shoes. Quick tech tip always read instructions and site info after ordering and installation, makes life so much more interesting

I have had a day! First I drive to Sioux falls to pick up a sams club order only to find out they canceled the order for out of stock items, driving 1.5 hrs home I got stopped for speeding on a country rd I've never seen a cop on, got home and decided to install a battery charger lead on the supercub, dropped the bottom battery cover screw down on top of the engine so I had to remove the left side cover to retrieve it, got it back on and was finishing up when I realized I had an extra screw. I've quit for the day and I am sitting on the couch waiting for the meteor to hit, should not be long now I'm sure

few yrs ago (4) i got pulled over doing well over 80 in a 45 on my cb1100. still had the temp tag on it. cop thought i was 'new to biking' since it had a temp tag on it and was new, and I was in my late 40s at the time, wrote me for 9 over. lol. he wasn't aware i was well over 100 about 1/8th mile before that around the corner. I played along, and learned (at least here). if you pay the ticket in person the 1st day its available to be paid.. the insurance company never usually gets notice of it. have done that 3 times over the past 10 years, and it works every time. (progressive). My theory is that if the account/invoice (ticket) is 'closed' before they send info to the ins company, it doesnt get flagged.
