If your on the fence about installing a magnetic oil drain plug on your Trail125 check this out. I installed mine at 0 miles. I'm thinking that was a good decision 🤔... Gold Plug MP-01. They also now make a shorter version out of oil screen clearance concerns I assume, however mine installed without any issues whatsoever. I've used this same plug in my Honda Monkey and had similar results. Screenshot_20210320-095154_Video Player.jpgScreenshot_20210320-095249_Video Player.jpg

I went to 300 before I changed mine, I couldn't wait for 600! But the oil came out clean.

Well I put a magnetised drain plug in before started it from new. I have done 800km and done four oil changes. I never had that much crap on my first change ( actually very little and all fine).
Subsequence changes very little and last one virtually none.
@Finding Neutral did you find second gear😀
Yes I finally did, but on occasion I lose it again and can't find it for a while 😄

I read that once somewhere as well. I actually pondered it briefly, but I seem to have bad luck doing stuff like that. I'd be worried oil might sneak into places it ought not be. On a cold engine it was super easy and quick just draining the factory oil then swapping out the plugs and pouring it right back in. Plus it gives one the chance to play with that new fangled mini dip-stick 🙂

I work part time at an auto parts store.
We were talking about this the other day.
They said if you held a vacuum to the filler hole, it applied enough suction that it wouldn't draw oil out, but it would keep the oil from coming out the drain hole
enabling you to change the plug.

I have not tried this yet.

I changed the oil in both my Trail and wife's SC and installed magnetic plugs. Both are still under 50 total miles and I could see metal bits in the drained oil. Considering they only take a quart I think you are just better off discarding the old oil.
