Twice the money as the trail and a Chinese knock off engine. For that money it is reasonable to expect top tier engine and transmission. Hard pass but you enjoy it if its worth the price for your useWell that is looking back… way back. But I’ll likely keep my trail.
I talked to them a few years ago. I don't think that they could not source another engine, they couldn't source any engines nearly as cheap as the Lifan. I guess the $300 Lifan is better that the $150 Chinese Honda copy engines I told them they would sale a lot more bikes if they put a Honda, Kawasaki ECT in the bike and increased the cost to cover the extra expense. $7500 for a Janus with Chinese 250 or $8500 for a Janus with a Honda 250.......think about it.It is a Chinese eng/transmission but it’s apparently decent quality, everything else else is mostly hand made right here in America. It’s and old school motorcycle, with few refinements for sure. It’s only money, and it’s fake money at that.
Do I wish it had a Honda Engine/transmission yep, but they were apparently unable to source one.
Has the best warranty in the motorcycle industry.
That $8000 the Janus goes for can buy a lot of bike. Older bikes are great if one is as practiced in the art as you. Most of us are better served by something newer. Too bad Honda doesn't offer the CL300 here. $5000 and seems like a good fit for his stated goal.I can assure you those would not fare well off road, or even on gravel roads. Look for an old honda ascot perhaps. If you want to go OLDER, ot suzuki TS250 might be an option.
The Triumph 400 Scrambler looks like a great value and a nice motorcycle. Much less expensive than the Honda CL500 and has a better look. Aesthetics matter to me and the Scrambler is a good looking bile that is reminiscent of the Honda CL's I hade in high school.Scrambler 400
