Why did you buy a Trail 125?

I bought it for commuting but sadly am thinking I may be better off with a scooter. Don’t have the spare funds to accessorize the bike like I want. A scooter would be great just for the under seat storage. I love the look/style of the Trail though so having a hard time making a decision.

There are a ton of box options to put on that massive rear rack. You can definitely carry more than you would under the seat of a scooter. But, ultimately, you know what you want to ride. Scooters are definitely user friendly. I cannot imagine it would be hard to resell your CT125. I was on a waiting list for 2 years after I put down a deposit!

Yeah I have a couple different crates for it already but realistically, I’d want something to put my helmet and other stuff in safely. A good lockable box is looking pricey and it kind of stands out. Under seat storage on a scooter is more incognito. I do love the bike and wish I could have both but money and space are limited.

Lock your helmet to the helmet loop provided or take it with you, these seem like elementary complaints.

I am probably one of the only person who didn't think of the money aspect or the fuel savings, simple answer is I wanted it. I didn't need the bike, like most of you who are a little older I can ride whatever I want within reason money isn't the problem. It reminded me of things I didn't have in my childhood and can have now and I am very thankful for that.

You can bolt just about any lockable storage container to the rear rack on the Honda Trail and meet the needs of secure helmet storage protected from the weather. If someone uses tools to mess with a box bolted on your motorcycle then they've crossed a line where having a scooter doesn't make it much different, they'd have likely messed with that just the same, especially if they know it's a model with under seat storage.

That’s very true.
Happy to report that I have too much fun on this bike anyway. I hadn’t been riding due to a moving situation but now that I started again, mind made up.
Won’t be swapping it for a scooter. I’ll probably just save for a scooter and buy one in addition when I can.

I lock my helmet in the milk crate with a bike lock through the milk crate handle hole. Good enough to keep someone from taking my $500 helmet.

TBH, I've never used a helmet lock before. In my hometown if you did, your helmet strap was usually cut off by some a**hole passing by, and helmets there were more expensive than they are in the USA. So this was the first time I've actually used a helmet lock.
  1. Underneath your seat, there's a 5mm allen key. Mine's got some tape around it to make it easier to lift out.
  2. Use that to open the toolbox (counterclockwise = open)
  3. Inside there is the cable for your helmet.
  4. You can either pass it through the d-clip of your helmet and then pass it under the wire, or do it as three separate steps. I do it as 3 separate steps because I can't see what I'm doing if I do it as 1. YMMV.
    1. First loop under the end.
    2. Free end through the D-clip of your helmet.
    3. Second loop under the end of the clip
  5. Close the seat.
Once the seat is closed, the helmet is attached to the bike. See attached photos (numbers align with above list) for a demonstration. It's also in the owner's manual under "Storage equipment" although it is light on details.

I'm obsessed with the 125 Honda motor. I have a Monkey, Grom, Cub, so I figured I needed a CT as well.
My monkey I'm really deep into parts wise, so I don't daily it.
I work at a bike shop and ride daily all year. I mostly use the CT to commute and for small trips. It's great in bad weather imo.
