Don't call it a purse...

Since my Trail didn't come to me with a Tool Box I've been debating what to add in that space. I wanted a way to carry tools, registration documents, etc. I debated between adding a stock Tool Box, a Tractor Manual Tube and some other options which I've used on other bikes and ATV's I've owned. Then I came across these Yeti Dry bags, which I actually bought with the thought that I'd install in one of my VW's.

These are dry bags (when properly sealed) and seem to be pretty rugged. People who like Yeti stuff seem to really like the stuff and it does seem to be well-made. This bag attaches via Velcro and seems like it will be secure. I fabbed a mount (quickly, I spent like an hour on this over the weekend) which should work fine. Initially I'm going to mount it on the same bracket the stock Tool Box uses however I may add a 90 degree mount from the bottom of the rear rack to one end of my mount if I feel like it needs more support. I still need to drill the holes for the mount, clean-up the slots I cut for the straps (I hate machining Aluminum; my Machine tools aren't really set-up for it and I'm lousy at working with the stuff) oh and I want to paint the exposed parts, just for asthetics but I should have it fully-installed later this week. Here's some pics of the process so far:

If you attach it to the edge of the rear rack you can do away with a side rack
Good idea! I thought about doing that but my Trail is going to see some trail use so I wanted something which will give the bag a solid-mount.

A camera/video bag from eBay. Zipped up holds about 6 litres and unzipped maybe 8/9lts. A bit expensive at $11! Miranda was the maker
Thank you kindly.
It makes sense that it is for a camera/video.
I've seen some nice bags for that hobby.
But most of the time they are big money.
That looks like a nice bag.

For comparison, this Yeti Bag was ~$50 on Amazon. Bonus that they come in an assortment of colors. The cost of the bag was one of the reasons why I decided to build my own mount for the bag to save having to spend more $ on a mount. The bad news is 1) The bag project has been moved to the back-burner because all of my spare time this week has been dedicated to modernizing the Charging system on my '63 Datsun P/U 2) Now that she knows that these bags come in other coors, my GF wants a pink one to use in my Dune Buggy  At least in that car I can just strap it to the Roll Cage within arms-reach of her seat and call it done :p

The great thing about being a guy is that ol' selective colorblindness is just so unpredictable when it comes to buying things. That being said, there was a running "gag" that the fastest guys in Cyclocross racing would always put pink bar tape, wear pink jerseys, etc. thus the more "little girl" themed the bike was, the more dangerous you could expect them to be. Heaven forbid if someone turns up with streamers and spokeydokeys.

Own the pink. Put Blossom from Powerpuff girls on there for extra credit.

LOL I get that! Thankfully my girl has pretty good taste so I don't mind if she wants a pink bag to put her phone in when we're out buzzing around in my 'Buggy, it's all good.

A few years ago I put a 'Hello Kitty' Decal on the back of a 4x4 I had. However the Hello Kitty decal I bought had the character holding an assault-style weapon. That got a few looks and one angry confrontation by a very pissed-off girl who saw it at a gas station. Apparently good taste is all in the beholder :sneaky:

Kalashnikitty? It's fairly well known in 2A groups. There's also a pink AR15 with a hello kitty decal on the stock back in 2007 or 2008. I'm not super familiar with the AR15 - I've fired one, but I've never disassembled, cleaned, and reassembled one - but I was pretty impressed that they could coat it such that tolerances weren't impacted. Every time I try that with my 3D prints I end up in a wrestling match of reducing clearances then coating and sanding, and that has way wider tolerances.

Well this took a lot longer then I expected LOL! Like I said earlier I had another project pop-up which sucked-up a lot of my free time this month, but this week I was able to wrap-up the Yeti mount on my Trail. Here are some pics of the finished product. I debated as to which side of the 'mount' I wanted to use (I painted the back-side and drilled it so that flipping it to the non-printed side will be easy). When standing next to the bike the print isn't as obvious; sort of gives it a subtle 'urban' feel. I strapped the bag to it and am really happy with how it turned-out. Currently I'm just using the stock Tool Box mount but if it's needed I'll add a 90 degree bracket to the rear to help support it, however at this point I don't think that's going to be a problem. I think this will be a nice upgrade for my Trail and useful too! Here are some pics:
