I don’t even buy motorcycles from a dealer in Vegas anymore. They’re all RideNow’s, and they’re all a ripoff. I drive to Utah, if I want a new Honda. I got my CT from a local guy in Vegas, Used, with zero miles.
I think this really comes down to how much do you want it? That's not as simple as it should be.
The irony of this statement isn't lost on me considering I just came back from Vegas to buy a CT125 after exhausting all other options for the last 8 months. South Jordan UT's Honda Powersports and I have had many crossed paths but never connected. For a while they were getting more CT125's than anyone else within 1000 mi of Seattle, but they'd never pick up the f**king phone, and I called them at least a dozen times, getting put on hold half of those times. I talk to my local dealer all the time, and in the past 9 months he's received a total of 2 bikes in the dead of winter. His wait list is 21 deep and he's not taking deposits which is why I had to go farther abroad. He literally told me, to my face, with the finance guy standing right behind him and agreeing, that if I could buy it from somewhere else I should.
Like it is quite literally that bad. Your options are pay more, go somewhere abroad and pay more (because transportation isn't free), or get a different motorcycle.
If $6250 gets you a bike now or you can get the same bike in 2 years for $4750, you will need to ask yourself if the extra $15 a week savings was really worth it. This is not a hypothetical situation; this is the reality to a person living where I am. Supply distribution in the USA is VERY uneven, skewed to the east coast. If you have something else to ride, and you only kinda want the bike, that's a pretty easy answer - I'd wait in that case. But if you specifically wanted this bike, and not wait forever...
EDIT: also dealer charges went up at the start of this year. That was a Honda wide thing, not related to any specific dealer. My local dealer said his went up $100.
