2023 USB Outlet

I despise wiring so anything "Plug & Play" i am all in. I watched a few YT videos on the subject but all reviews on the components themselves say they are not compatible with the American 2023 Honda Trail 125. Something about 3 pin on the up to 22's and 23' having 4 pins. Still new to thr CT125 so bear with the questions.

So, the question is has anyone with a 23' installed a USB Outlet that is "Plug & Play" and not direct to the battery?

The USA 2023 Honda Trail (JA65) might be missing the accessory power port in the headlight, same as the earlier model (JA55) in the USA. If that's the case for the 2023 model then you're left needing to pull power from other wires, connectors, or the battery.

There is a plug-and-play setup that uses the ignition relay, but unfortunately it is currently sold out: https://hondatrail125.com/index.php...torcycle-type-c-pd-dual-usb-charger-kit.1549/

Wiring something up yourself can be easy, even if you despise wiring you can use a Posi-Tap to tap switched power from the 3-pin ignition switch in a way that's less daunting than splicing or stripping wire from the factory wiring harness. If you end up leaning that way, there are a few threads with photos and videos on how to do it on these forums that you can study in advance. Wiring directly to the battery (with a fuse) isn't a bad approach either as long as you have an outlet that doesn't draw much (or any) power for itself and you unplug your accessories when the bike is parked and off. There's also always the option of paying someone else to do it if it's not something that interests you and you just want it done professionally.

The OEM one (08U70-K2E-J00, which plugs into an accessory power plug missing on at least the older USA model, not sure about the 2023) is a "cigarette lighter" style 12v auxiliary power outlet. More versatile, but needs a plug adapter for USB.

The Kitaco USB Power Supply Kit for the Super Cub works fine with the Trail 125 and is completely plug and play. It comes with a plug that fits into the small red acessory(?) port right next to the battery. It is switched with the ignition. The USB port also fits inside the factory mount without grinding it out, which is nice. Best solution I was able to find.

As much as i dislike wiring i will not spend any more $$ than i have to piecing together this kit or that kit. The cub one might have the correct connector but the rest is fugly to me and useless. I am going to do a little more research and find the terminal / connector type and hopefully these guys below have it. I have used CT many times in the past and they are great to deal with.

I probably wasn't clear that you don't use the Super Cub bracket that comes with the kit I linked, that bracket would be useless. The USB port installs in the accessory hole like all the other USB ports. Another bonus for this kit, besides plug and play and no grinding, is the rubber boot actually covers the top and sides of the port. It looks a bit more weather proof than the ones I was looking at on Amazon where it appeared water could easily drive inside under the cap.

It shows to be back in stock for those interested in getting one. No issues with mine.

I'm currently editing my video. I wouldn't follow it too closely when I publish it. My day wasn't going well and the majority of the video is little more than comic relief. A hammer made an appearance at least twice.

I used the blue posi-tap. I don't know what gauge that is. I did only tap the black/yellow wire. I grounded to a bolt.

These are in stock now, I just ordered one for the connectors. I’ll use the connectors for my Webike USB (Kijimi) that won’t connect to the 2023 jacks.

I like the Oxford because it looks a lot like the Kitaco one (probably the same unit with different connectors) and the cover looks like it will hold up against moisture better than the Kurvia one from Amazon.

I have been running the Kurvia one off of amazon since the beginning of the year. A few washes, tons of dust/dirt and even a rain shower and it hasn't had any moisture or leak issues. I like the simplicity of the inline plug-n-play harness capability too, no need to use $hitty taps.

I like the kijima quality, the harness was for a 2022. This looks like it will seal well from rain. Also a pic of the cheap china USB from Amazon. Looks like the one I have on my 2022 I got from china.

^^ Thank you for the detailed info. I saw this one pop up as an alternate but it looks like a different connector.

I purchased this, and installed it today... Perfect fit on my 23... no drilling or filing... everything plugged in as expected, and it just works. I've only had it installed 1 day... so I can't speak to how well it will hold up yet. But given how easy it was to install, I could just swap it out with no issue at all.
