So far with just the recent exception , I have only received love while on the CT.
Too much love at times and when I park , I try and get away from the bike before all the on lookers rush in with their questions/comments.
But I got me some hate yesterday.

I'm at around 2800 mi now clocking in around 200 mi per week with commuting lately, and I've had a bit of hate. Part of it is that I live in a hilly area and this bike only has 27 donkeypower / 9 hp. I'm topping out at around 35 mph on some of these hills where regular traffic likes to do 45-50 mph (and the speed limit is 35 mph). Some of it is that it doesn't have the get up and go that it needs to be got up and gone when I'm riding around someone. Mostly the incidents are related to the small size of the bike and it generally being treated more like a bicycle or a scooter, not like a BMW GS 1200.

I think it's really important to acknowledge incidents as severity and frequency when making this statement. For example, in my area inattentiveness by gender is more often perpetrated by women, but it's doing shit at stoplights where it's unlikely to be beyond an inconvenience. When it's done by men, I'm dodging into the bike lane and they blow through where I was and almost hit the car in front of me (last Friday), or it institutes road rage which requires me to lane split or maneuver the bike away from them. The latter is far less common, but far more severe. In that sense, the hate is generally on the less severe side of things. The most common, intentionally directed "hate" is people who think my high beams are on, but it's just that when aimed correctly my headlights will be a bit bright as I crest a hill. Just like theirs are, but they don't realize it.

If we're talking win/loss tally, I mean... on Tuesday on my way home I had a woman lean out of a pie truck and give me a sample while stopped at a traffic light. Old men love the bike. I've been illegally parking it literally right in front of the local PD while they're standing there and they leave me alone. THAT has been my experience on this bike. I try not to ride it places where I'll cause problems, and my life has been good in the meantime. Probably the most surprising thing to date, which for various other reasons is not immensely surprising, is that I don't get MORE people commenting on the bike at work. That being said, there's substantial evidence that they are probably too young to know the origins of this bike.

Strange the differences.
I've been on 2 wheels for about 40yrs and I've mentioned to the wife , I get more respect from the cagers on THIS CT then a full blow dresser.
I joke it must be because they are afraid to hurt the poor retard on the moped.
Now the hate I got , had nothing to do with speed , being in the way or anything of the sort.
Just the sight of me and/or the bike had angered the big mouth that when I turned up another street he slowed enough at the intersection to stick his head out the window and make all sorts of assumptions about my sexual orientation.
Back in the day , this was how cowards got their rocks off before facebook and the internet came along.

Aaah yes. I'd almost forgotten about that. I am convinced that on average, that person probably was having a bad day, needed a hug and was projecting their own insecurities. Almost nothing would convince them to behave well, shy of being bullying the wrong person and learning the hard way from a cop.

I'm not white, and I used to be subjected to a LOT of racial profiling, which generally goes away when you're ATGATT with a full face helmet and a tinted or mirror visor. I think about win/loss ratio for different driving experiences a lot, because you do that when you'd get pulled over at least once a week in one vehicle, and twice in 4 years on the other driving the exact same routes the same way, the only difference being in one vehicle they can actually see you. This bike? GREAT win/loss ratio. Easily the best I've ever owned.

I feel that some people will give you grief no matter what just because they can. I have a process for dealing with stuff like that, and the results have been very interesting, but that's a different kind of discussion (TL,DR: what one would attribute to "out of the blue good or bad luck" was not a random circumstance of luck).

My mother used to tell me , "it's a small world".
She wasn't right about everything but I've found she nailed it on that.
And the dumb looking face on that driver and their $800 car won't be easy to forget.
I shall give them that hug they require.
As I like to think of myself as a bridge builder............................

I don't think I've put more then 100 miles on my Trail (yet) but so far I've only gotten positive comments. When I used to own a Zuma 125 I got some 'not friendly' comments from folks who I guess don't like Scooters. The funniest one was when I rode the Zuma to a Diner I used to eat at ~30 miles away from where I lived at the time. Getting there required riding though a fun canyon and I made a point to take one of the three bikes I owned back then (TW200, Grom, Zuma) out there once a week or so. I made friends with a Waitress there who also rode (I think she had a Honda Shadow or something similar). We had many conversations about bikes and riding on my weekly visits out there. Then one night when the place was especially slow she said she wanted to see what I was riding. I'd ridden the Zuma that night. She walked outside, saw it and said "That's funny, all this time I thought you rode a motorcycle." That one hurt. We never discussed riding or bikes again after that LOL!

Ha!. That's great!
Hopefully she was at least cute.
It takes broad shoulders :)
You could've said ... "Well you ride a Shadow so that makes us even"
LOL
I'm not laughing at you , I'm laughing with you.

I had one guy , who didn't mean any harm, watch me as I pulled into a place on the Ct and when I came out , he asked me why I was wearing Harley boots.
I said these aren't Harley "brand" boots , they're just motorcycle boots.
He was looking at me odd and asked why I was wearing them , I told him I wear them with my motorcycles so I don't slide at intersections and that's why I was wearing them now.
And he's looking at me strange like he can't figure out what I'm telling him.
Then he askes , "If I bought it "CT125" for fun"?
So I was getting into the mood by this point and says , "No, I bought it to be miserable and for it's shear power"
Poor guy left that parking lot probably with more questions than answers.
But I couldn't figure out what he was trying to say either so.....

The only hate my CT125 has gotten has been from the aftermarket exhaust that's louder than stock (has received more compliments than complaints though, tbh), and some older guy checking the bike out and giving unsolicited opinions on the modern updates they made since the CT90 and CT110. He's come up to me in parking lots around town multiple times before to check out my bikes and comment on "silly" things about them and scoff at modern tech like ABS and EFI. I just give him a wave and go on my way... he drives a truck around town, I'm almost always on a motorcycle, so not much value in those opinions.

I get the "biker wave" from almost every other motorbike when I'm on the CT125, more so than I do on v-twin motorcycles. There have been a few times where I've caught people doing a double take after, maybe thinking they just waved at a scooter? 🤭 Or maybe just trying to figure out what the bike is, and if it's old or new. I'll give people the "biker wave" when conditions are safe (and outside of rallies where there's endless motorcycles) too. I'll hand out those waves to anyone, scooters, mopeds, 1%ers, and for trikes I give them 3 fingers instead of 2, it's supposed to be how many wheels you hope they keep on the ground, right? It's a silly thing, a friend of mine even has a fake hand on a spring on his bagger that waves to people as it rides by, but it's fun and friendly 🤷‍♂️

That's awesome! I wear HD Gloves whenever I ride on the street. They're comfortable and I've had them forever (my first street bike ~15 years ago was a HD). I used to be a bit self-concious about wearing them but am over it now. To be fair you'd have to be looking pretty close in order to see the logo.

I have received nothing but ALOHA, as we say in Hawaii. I get inquires at stop lights, and all have been along the lines of "I remember that bike as a trail 90" or "glad to see Honda brought that back, nice" I've even had Harly riders give a wave! Not very many trail 125's here, I have only seen one other on the road and it was when I was driving my car.

The Trail 125 is either a Rorschach test or litmus test depending on your analogical preference.
Also, I'd forgive someone who saw me without a helmet and came over and shared a story about losing someone due to no helmet. No biggie, they care about fellow humans.
But to question someone about their boots, gloves, or any other gear that they ARE wearing? Of all the trouble in the world and that's what's really got you confused?!

Thankfully I do not yet have any stories to share other than lots of love for the Trail. I hope that never changes.

I have had some issues here in the Daytona area, mostly people wanting to do 80 in a 45 limit..but i have found most of them are pretty good about it.
best to be extra careful around rush hour, and yeah,, some would like to kill you but i get that just trying to drive my car.
I think mostly they just see a old man on a moped.. good and bad everywhere..

I tour on mine. I also comute about 40 miles each way to work and back on it. I tell people that I have 2 Harleys at home but anybody can tour on a bagger. They tend to shut up at that point. Lol

I don't think the guy asking about my boots was any hate.
I just think he was trying to wrap his head around something that only he knew what he was trying to understand.
Maybe he just wasn't very good at using his words .....
Anyhow, she is put away for the winter now.
I may get around to look into raising my bars a few inches during the down time.
The factory seat has stopping bothering me.
Maybe I just needed to toughen up my butt cheeks?
