Hi All!
I have a red version but I have color envy after seeing the tumeric color. haha

Does anyone have experience with painting their CT125 to another color? How did it go? Can you provide any insight in pricing/time investment to change the color?
Thanks all!

CaptainNags on this forum painted a CT125 but is no longer an active member after having later sold the bike. Details on the painting here:

As for professional jobs, National Superbike in Georgia have painted multiple custom CT125s including this Furious Fuchsia Pearl build.

I've painted a few motorcycles with good success, prep and the correct materials make the difference, not cheap but less expensive than a professional. The materials below are in aerosol cans, hold up incredibly well, and look good. Colorite matches factory colors and Spray Max 2k is the ultimate in clear.

I enjoy it and the next project is a pedal car for our granddaughter.

This was done with those rattle cans? I would have said it was done with a nice airbrush - nice work! It's still looking great, do you ever do a few touch ups?

I have a feeling that being my clumsy self, I'll likely drop the bike and will need to get a few touch ups haha

Never had to do a touch-up, would think if you use the same brand of paint for a touch up as painted with it would match. The paint company uses a formula based on weight of the individual colors in the final color, seems it would be close enough. Best of luck.

I'm not a super painter but I have friends that have done some good work. From what I understand 90% of a successful paint job is the prep.

ive painted quite a few, recently did the KZ & repaired the tail on my rd. the rd tail is fiberglass and i didnt repaint all of it, touch up, blending & spraymax 2k (which IS the best to use can wise)

TBH, id probably try to buy stock already painted bodywork and go that way on the CT.

this is for the 22 models, I didn't see any for the 24 yet. but im sure it will come out soon enough. https://www.partzilla.com/catalog/honda/motorcycle/2022/ct125a-trail-125/body-cover

I mentioned this int he other post, but repair, spot paint and blend then reclear:

automotive paint (matched) and 2k clear:

to this:

KZ was all rattle can, and it has some serious metal flake in it, very obvious in the sun.

this isnt 'orange peel' in the pic, its the flake reflecting.

KZ was done with products from these guys: https://rothmetalflake.com/

I think it was 79 bucks total for the paint, metal flake clear, 2k clear, and primer, shipped.

some other stuff i've painted w cans int he past:

my 72 T500 (also rattle can, silver base/gold 'anodizing' paint/clear):

my old 70 HS1 (got offered stupid money for it so sold it) daytona yellow, vinyl pin stripes, reproduction sidecover graphics, cleared in.

my old 73 S2A: (yes rattle can). the striped were vinyl then cleared over:

this is a bare metal tank, da sanded and painted right on the metal w the 2k clear. no othe rpaint/primer. on my lightweight RD:

(before prep and clearing):

etc.

yes, all of them were out of a spray bomb. BTW, I HATE bodywork, but it is satisfying when done.

67 YL1E: front black is original, rear silver was repainted then a matte finish clear. it had the yellow pin stripes on it.. not original but a PO did it and its ok so i left them. the solver/black 2 tone setup is original though.

Some of the plastics have changed in shape between the JA55 and JA65, so if you were to buy the Turmeric parts it would be worth doing the due diligence to confirm that there aren't other changes that would cause interference when doing a complete panel swap.

I have a lot of experience painting bikes with matte black bedliner. Did my Triumph Scrambler years ago, and it turned out awesome.

Since then I have painted a number of bikes either fully or partially with bedliner, including a Honda Valkyrie.

I have painted my CT90 partially with it - the front fender, for example, while leaving the fender attachments and supports the stock orange - and it can look really striking.

I'm not sure I'll tackle my brand new CT125 when it arrives in April though! I think I'll keep it Big Red for a while
