Bummed I can't join the circle j**k, I think the headlight is just fine(y). And we were americas first dark skis city!
That sounds like the ideal conditions for the stock headlight to me. I find it fine for putzing around in the dark, but not at 40mph+, and not when there are other brighter light sources (oncoming traffic).

My 2022 Guzzi V7 came with a LED headlight that wasn't good at first, I was worried this was becoming a common issue on newer motorcycles since it's my second OEM LED headlight bike after the Trail, though I've had really nice aftermarket setups before like J.W. Speaker's adaptive LED headlight. Nope. Tried the same thing I tried right away on the Trail, adjusted the headlight and measured against a wall. The Guzzi headlight just needed to be tilted up. Now it's good for highway speeds in the rain, even did Tail of the Dragon at night last weekend with a lot of oncoming traffic (holiday weekend) with no visibility issues, so don't think it's just my eyes. I noticed at a Syndikits MC meetup in Denver that the Honda Trail headlight's beam on the road is *slightly* better than a 1970s Puch Maxi moped.

if you are having issues adapting to oncoming lights and losing focus..... its your eyes not being able to adapt. Use a brighter headlight, sure, but i ride mine all the time at night and a LOT of older bikes with flat out shitty (25w) headlights in city traffic frequently and never have an issue. But do what you need to.

It's just a well documented issue that the lumen density of headlights is getting higher and it's causing issues, even with healthy eyes.
An interesting aside, the same group of Milwaukee School of Engineers grads who prototyped McLaren's Adaptive Driving Beam tech are the people who designed J.W. Speaker's adaptive (tilt) lights for motorcycles. A.D.B.s were made legal in the USA earlier this year, so here's hoping they get picked up on at least the luxury vehicles that tend to have the more obnoxiously "bright" lights.

ADBs are amazing technology...I had a chance to visit German lighting company ZKW in Austria and drive their test vehicles at night...their lighting system have multiple lighting elements that can be turn on/off individually, controlled by a camera traffic locating system...you can literally leave the high beams on all the time with on coming traffic and they will not be bothered...
