Auxiliary fuel tank query

Hi everyone, first post here…

Whilst waiting for my CT125 to arrive in the UK (‘grey’ imports only here)… I’ve done what many have and trawled the internet for tips, advice, accessories etc

I saw an accessory that I’m keen on, but mislaid the link for it, perhaps someone knows where it can be found? I can’t find it anywhere now!

It was an auxiliary fuel tank set up (not the large red 5 litre one you see all over the net), but a smaller 2litre one that fits snugly on the area of the tool box that gets re-located vertically. It used a black ‘Fuel Friend’ bottle that can be obtained in a number of places.
It’s the frame especially I’m looking for, and a bottle if it comes with it of course.

The bottle looks like the one in this image attached.

Thanks in advance for any advice offered

I have a couple of these 2L containers but never had to use one in anger on my “big” bike. If you carry them round full they are extra weight and when empty they take up precious space. I now have this “roll-up-able” 5L bag but have yet to use it in anger

Thanks - good advice. Though I’d still like to track this one down! The 5 litre version many fit would be too big in my opinion 🙂

On an older bike I had I mounted a MSR fuel bottle, not sure if I'll put it on this bike yet but it would mach the color! They come in all kinds of sizes and there are tons of diff mounts out there for them. Available everywhere but here they are on Amazon.

Now that I have stopped looking for it, I've come across it! I liked this one as you only have to move the tool box to vertical and the fuel cell is just 2 litres which is fine for me. I wasn't particularly looking for one of the larger orange ones. I think this one looks neat and sit's 'in' the bike more; almost as though it's supposed to be there!

That price is certainly better! The bracket on the japan site looks like the key tho, need a source for those.

That's an interesting set up.

Whilst I can see that the bottle itself can be sourced elsewhere at very reasonable prices- suggestive that the frame etc seems rather expensive as a result… I take the view that at least it means that spare and replacement bottles are easily obtained; adding to the sense of future-proofing your set up! 😁

I got my order but now I'm confused...everything in the part list is here except in the instruction, it shows attachment to some strange bracket (highlighted in red). I'm going to ask what this is but if I have to order another part, then I wouldn't recommend. If I have to I'll figure out something...

Aren't those just the old toolbox mounts?

What are those? Where can I get them?

Here's a better pic from their site...

I had a close look at the details for this item. Looking in the description it mentions there is a need to get a bracket fo the bike, to attach this set up to... It is certainly not clear that this is needed at first glance! I've highlighted the two items in the description that give us that clue

*In Japan, gasoline is transported using a vehicle in a fuel tank other than minerals according to the Fire Service Law. (White gas and light oil can be up to 10L)
*A separate SP Takegawa helmet holder / sub tank bracket (part number: 09-11-0424) is required for installation.
*When installing the product, the left rear round reflector cannot be installed.
*When installing the product, the helmet holder unit attached to the SP Takegawa helmet holder (product number: 09-11-0424) cannot be used.
*The image may contain other products.
*Please note that product specifications may change due to manufacturer's reasons
.

A link for that bracket is here - and sorry to be the bearer of bad news - it's not cheap... as it includes a hemet lock that cannot be used with the tank set-up!

Oh wow...well, I guess I'll have to adapt it some how since sending back would be impractical...certainly not spending that kind of $$$...aarrrggg...
