Maybe I'm doing it wrong and should be filling it to the brim right off the bat like I think you did. I fill to the bar that blocks the nozzle from going in too far, slosh, fill back to the bar. Above the bar I worry might go to the EVAP canister. Hard to see where you're filling to in the video though.

I am filling to the absolute brim in this latest clip.

Thanks for the clarification. If you're not experiencing any issues filling it to the brim, I'll skip the slosh-filling at the bar and try that when I know I'm going to be immediately putting miles on it.

No issues that I have experienced except extended range 😃

I've been doing some testing lately trying to do what i can to get some "free" hp. So far I've cut the exhaust tube in the end cap that goes into the 2nd chamber of the muffler thus eliminating one of the chambers. I removed the external snorkel going to the rack and shortened the internal snorkel in the airbox and modified the stock filter to flow more. Those things got me a little over 1hp on my dyno plus more torque. I'll have to look at the charts for exact numbers. Next step is porting the stock head and decking the cyl for a bit more compression. Might modify the stock exhaust head pipe area also. Having fun with it

That is awesome! Experimenting with these little bikes is the best.

Is it necessary to run high grade fuel with this setup? The reason i ask is that where i live all grades of fuel come from the same hose. When i get high grade non ethanol fuel for my atv i need to pump the first 2 gallons into my car so im sure i get ethanol free gas in my fuel can. Thanks for finding what works good together.

I have a 164 kit w cam and I need about 93 octane to keep from pinging.
That doesn't sound good for my plans of getting a BBK. With such a small tank I'm not sure how much 93 octane I would actually get from a pump. Pretty sure I read somewhere the hose holds atleast 1/2 gallon of fuel. Anyone have any suggestions besides not getting a BBK?

shouldn't be necessary TBH. Ive run a bunch of BBks over the years, only one i needed premium on was a 170 4v setup i had i decked the cyl on. 87 is fine typically 9:5 and down is just fine on 87. cams typically drop dynamic compression a bit as the valve duration is a bit longer. just .02

Currently reading a long thread about this on advrider.com. It seems on the newer pumps they use a smaller diameter hose and you only get about 1/4 gallon of whatever was pumped last. Should be ok as long as I put in 1 gallon or more which means almost empty 😆

Missed that you were aiming for 93 octane. If you do end up using octane booster, those little bottles are usually only intended to add +2 to the pump octane number. I've used them touring on a motorcycle with 11:1 compression ratio in the boonies where sometimes only "regular" 87 is available.

The Kitaco 164cc like yours is my planned route, lists 11:1 ratio I believe. I would just hate to put money into a toy and find out I'm screwed because I can't get high octane fuel. I live in the Adirondak Park in northern NY with plenty of uphills to deal with and a little extra oomph would be nice. Gonna be a fun working on a project again 😁

You could bring a small fuel can and pump the first gallon in there to take home for your lawn mower or put in your truck. Then you could be sure...maybe 🤷‍♂️

im actually running a 143 in the trail, and its a flat top piston w valve reliefs vs the dished stock piston, and i for sure don't need to run premium. just saying. .02

The stock ignition curve is not well suited for BBK to much timing causing high heat and detonation. You won’t notice from light to light but do a few miles of full throttle and it will be problematic. I use VP octain booster it can be found at most auto part stores.

if anything the stock timing curve is very docile & the biggest reason for the CT125s lame ass stock performance. the fueling was always the issue w the bbk, hence the efie addition. Mines been in for a few years now, never had that happen, and i ride mine hard all the time. aside from swapping the injector, did you do anything else to increase the fuel? that might be where its coming from. . just my experience.

Yes I have an efie, 170cc injector, Wideband o2 sensor, Cam, takagawa air filter and exhaust. Run 12.1 -12.5 AFR.
