Hahh same idea I had. See above. I got snap lock base too. You posted while I was trying to put in pictures. Great minds think alike, after all we own a red donkey or two..... Got from Northern Tool shipped in free due to member ship status.I picked up one of these, haven't used it yet though.View attachment 435
Got the above Milwaukee Packout stuff to try. Pricy but crate locks to base and there is also a wooden top that locks to crate. The base is a little bigger than the 16x18 of the cargo carrier on the donkey but allows tie-downs and hooks to be attached around the edges. The instructions want the base mounted longitudinally to direction of travel to keep the crate from unlocking due to sudden start or acceleration. I am looking for a rubber pad to put under the base before figuring out how to fasten the base down semi permanently. The crate snaps on and off with a pull up of the locking tab. It is directional so I'm putting on so it slides off to the left as that is the side I dismount on away from muffler. Crate has drains cut in bottom too. The wooden cap is the same size as the base so will stick out all around and I'm not sure I want that possibly hitting my back. I will get one to try anyway and post pictures shortly of what it looks like sitting on cargo rack.
