This is my first time riding a motorcycle. Been an avid cyclist most of my life.

Went to get it yesterday with a friend's Ford F-250 and a trailer. Halfway there one of his rear brake calipers stuck and was smoking. Mission aborted.

Went today with a friend’s pickup truck. They loaded it up for me. Got home backed it up to an embankment by the road and was able to roll it off level with a ramp.

Did circles in the yard (I’ve got an acre or so) for about 10 minutes. Honestly thought I would do that longer, but was feeling pretty good. Practiced some stops in the driveway at fairly slow speeds.
Tried a little “slalom” in the driveway for a couple of minutes (no cones or anything--my driveway is about a tenth of a mile long). Then told myself I would just go to the end of the street once slowly and back. Only had a helmet and gloves on so didn’t want to do anything crazy. I live on a really light traffic road. Went slowly down to the end and messed around doing slow figure eights for a couple minutes in a very large culdesac. Coming back I opened it up for like 10 seconds. I probably didn’t even make it out of 3rd gear.

But it was enough to put a smile on my face and it felt like I was a sport bike on a track. Looked down and was doing like 25 mph hahahaha

well done!

1st time i ever rode a bike was also solo... was on an 81 CB750 i bought for 142 bucks, what a pile. but, exhilarating nonetheless, even after i dumped in a pile of leaves at the end of the street. would be 22 year till i dropped another bike on the street but once you're in, you're in... congrats!! I think the correct word for me was "exhilirating" as well. I used to hang glide so I've done other "adrenaline" sports. This was different. This was really fun!

Get used to that smile. I've had motorcycles for more than 50 years, currently own four others in addition to the Trail, and still get a big grin every time I ride it.

I had to get rid of my last bike because of my ex-wife. Every time I swing my leg over this new bike it's a solid commitment to make up for the 23 years I spent waiting for Honda to make this bike and 10 years I spent with the wrong person. I can't really do big adventures at the moment for employment reasons, but this will be my mini moto for many mini adventures. I am also an avid cyclist, but the smile I'll have on this is going to be a very different one.
