This is my first time riding a motorcycle. Been an avid cyclist most of my life.
Went to get it yesterday with a friend's Ford F-250 and a trailer. Halfway there one of his rear brake calipers stuck and was smoking. Mission aborted.
Went today with a friend’s pickup truck. They loaded it up for me. Got home backed it up to an embankment by the road and was able to roll it off level with a ramp.
Did circles in the yard (I’ve got an acre or so) for about 10 minutes. Honestly thought I would do that longer, but was feeling pretty good. Practiced some stops in the driveway at fairly slow speeds.
Tried a little “slalom” in the driveway for a couple of minutes (no cones or anything--my driveway is about a tenth of a mile long). Then told myself I would just go to the end of the street once slowly and back. Only had a helmet and gloves on so didn’t want to do anything crazy. I live on a really light traffic road. Went slowly down to the end and messed around doing slow figure eights for a couple minutes in a very large culdesac. Coming back I opened it up for like 10 seconds. I probably didn’t even make it out of 3rd gear.
But it was enough to put a smile on my face and it felt like I was a sport bike on a track. Looked down and was doing like 25 mph hahahaha
