Good navigation app for these bikes??

Every nav app I have assumes I can hop up to 65-70 MPH and I get routed onto roads that greatly exceed the normal operating cruise speed of the CT. Are there any good nav apps out there that find routes conducive to the normal speeds these bikes see?

Thank you

Use a bicycle riding app? My garmin GPS has a bicycle feature. That keeps you off highways.
Problem with that is in areas with actual bicycle infrastructure you get routed onto bike paths where motor vehicles are prohibited.

I’ve spent hours and hours looking at various options, nothing great exists today, but GEM is in the process of expanding an app they have which looks promising. It specifically finds routs for their little electric cars (35 mph), the map for Seattle is pretty nice. No idea how long it will be before there is decent coverage across the nation… if ever. But they just opened a dealership in Gainesville Fl. I’m guessing these things will be all over UF in a year or so.

It's not a free service but I use OnXmaps primarily when I'm four-wheeling. What would make it good for use on a Trail is it allows you to plan routes (even when in off-line mode) based on road or trails you want to use. Also works on paved roads too so you can route around highways or high-speed roads.

I bought a subscription a couple of years ago when I was leading an off-road trip in Utah which I wasn't familiar with. Since then I've found lots of new and different uses for it, though I've not yet used it on a bike it would work well for those that want to use it for that purpose.

I'll check that out, not opposed to paying for something that works.

Try mapmy ride.com. You can create a turn for turn route woth distance, elevations but not sure about off road, limited use highways showing up on it. However there is the Gazatteer which provides state by state mtopo and road maps that specifically include limited use highways and seasonal roads. Could try taking a look at these options. I just continue to learn and use Gaia for now.

You're welcome! The latest version isn't too bad. Some of their earlier versions had so many features packed-in that it made everything a bit clunky and confusing, especially on a phone. I typically use it on a Tablet and am getting a lot of use out of it. Bonus to that it can show property boundaries along with listed owners of said property (name, mailing address, property size) so if a trail takes you across private land you can see it and see who owns it; which for me came-in handy once when an angry property owner claimed she owned everything (including the County Road) we were riding on. Although in hindsight correcting her of her mistake didn't calm her down, though it greatly amused the people I was riding with LOL!

I use google maps for routing, kurviger for generating gpx files, and Locus Map for following GPX files.
