For those of you that have one of these, does it seem useless due to its small size and capacity. I'm going to be setting my bike up with multiple aluminum home made racks (neighbor is an aluminum welder). Tree stand rack, bow holder, etc. for hunting/fishing excursions. But the only unoccupied spot will be the headlight/front fender area...unless a rack would be useful. TIA

I have a spring loaded one and mostly use it to hold my hat while riding, or my riding gloves when parked. Last winter I used it to attach a wreath with LED lights around the headlight for a few holiday group rides. It also ends up being overflow storage for smaller (usually bagged) items on errands, or keeping an extra rain layer accessible if I'm not in my full Aerostich space suit of Gore-Tex riding gear.

To answer your question though, it is kind of gimmicky. I enjoy mine for the convenience and aesthetic. One more place to load the bike up with stuff when I've gone overboard at Costco.

Cool, thanks for the tips. In your opinion do you think the tiny rack is strong enough for anchor points with ratchet straps to tie down while transporting it on a trailer vs the handle bars?

I would not trust the metallurgy and welds of the rack for that.

Some folks are using Canyon Dancer strap rings for tie down points, might be worth looking into for that use case.
