Another tire to consider, these Heidenau K 46,
I've not had a lot of luck with the shinko's eather for my lack of skills mounting them, or they are out of round or perhaps the ones I got were defective.
So with these, I've eather got something good, I accidentally did something right or what ever.
But they went on nice, are round and at least for a knobby, run smoothly. No balancing and no fuss. I've been running the GP 5s for my winter commuting and have had no issues mounting them eather. The K 46 tire costs a little more about 70 bucks each but for me was well worth it. They kinda look like the shinko 241, but definitely a stiffer compound.

I imagine most people are not familiar with Heidenau tires, but I put a pair of their K66 tires on my SYM HD200 scooter several years ago and have been very impressed with them. After I bought my Trail 125 last year I put the Shinko 241's on (2.75-17) because they were more readily available, and lower cost. I wanted to try them out (the "trials" type tire pattern) to see if they would work for my riding before spending any more than I needed to. While not exceptional, they are probably the best option for me for my mix of street and light trail riding. I only have about 500 miles on them, but when they wear out I think I will go with these Heidenau K46's. Please keep us posted as to how they continue to work for you.

So far only street rides but hit my
Usual 52 mph without the wheel hop
I haven't been off road yet, until I get back to TN,
one thing I have noticed is that there is a noticable amount of mass, and effort in turning and getting up to speed but no more than the shinko's.
I still feel for the street the GP5 s are better.
