What can a guy with no speeding tickets, 60 years old expect to pay?

And which companies have the best coverage and prices?

I use Liberty Mutual's sister company that covers motorcycles, Safeco. Liability only costs me $14 a year. That is perfect for me because I don't ride much and my bikes stay in the garage. Trail 110-$7, CT 70-$6 and the CBR1000rr is $30. I'm 47 with a pretty clean record.

I’ve had progressive for years and have a total of three machines insured, all full coverage. The ct added $38 per year.

I opened up my Progressive page just to check. I'm 37, been hit twice in my 11 years riding, no tickets of any kind under my belt. I have an NC700X on my policy as well. Here are the CT125 prices I'm paying:

Uninsured/Underinsured motorist: $110 (basic coverage)
Medical Payments: $44
Bodily Injury & Property Damage Liability: $25
Uninsured Motorist Property Damage: $6
Total: $185 yearly

I added the extra bodily injury/medical payment etc stuff after I was rear ended by a drunk driver while sitting at a red light back in 2014. Probably not necessary, but gives me extra peace of mind.

FWIW I think I was quoted an extra $200, maybe $250 to add comprehensive for the CT125. Can't remember the exact number and can't figure out an easy way to check, but I believe that's a decent ballpark figure.

When I was speaking to my Agent at Farm Bureau he gave me the price, I asked 'is that a quote on full coverage?'

He said yes, then said you have full coverage on your truck, I replied I have Liability on my 20 year old truck. He said 'well that's full coverage'? Full coverage to me has always meant that I'm fully covered if I ride it off of a cliff or if someone steals it.
I didn't go into a discussion with him about it -wasn't in the mood..
Trailblasers comments make me think the definition of full coverage can mean different things at different places.

That's a big line item that varies by state and level of coverage. Some states require uninsured/underinsured motorist bodily injury coverage. In Colorado, though it's not required by law, I've had to sign a form to acknowledge that I was declining that coverage. I'm not making a recommendation either way, anyone's insurance coverage is up to them and their own risk assessment. Just pointing out one of the factors that would make a rate different from state to state for the same person and vehicle.

Caveats:
- My area is known to have expensive insurance nationwide
- I am not bundling my insurance with a car because I don't have a car
- I am younger, but not quite in the "you can't rent a car" young risk bracket.

I pay $190 a year with AllState. I suspect that's probably amongst the highest on the forum.

That is absolutely true. You have to define a few scenarios for them to see if you're covered. Like towing the bike and it falls off the back of your car is not the same as towing the bike and you get rear ended by a car - there's one guy who had the unfortunate discovery that if you don't strap it down right and insurance gets involved, they won't cover it. His bike was more covered if a meteor hit it from space.

Mine is through Dairyland... I have a 2022 Can Am RTL and F3T as well as this trail for $600 a year; liability, collision, theft, etc... The Trail was less than $50 but I have a couple of discounts for multiple rides and for paying the entire year upfront.

I dig those snowmobiles with wheels. Trying to convince my wife she needs one. Still trying to convince her she needs her own Trail.

Insurance is wildly different everywhere and your credit score for some reason but it seems every insurance can agree it the Trail isn't very much.

State Farm is running me $22 a month for comprehensive coverage, and it being listed as my primary vehicle.

We pay the Allstate minimum of $99/year each on 8 bikes. It was liability only but we were not getting our discounts as they would have brought the bikes under the minimum. Worked with the agent and brought them up to about $180 each for full coverage but was then able to use the discount to bring it back to the same $99/yr.

Any insight or advice on getting insurance in California? Same scenario. 60 years old. Clean record, no tickets. I expect to pay more, because, well, it's California.

Shouldn't take more then a phone call. I'm in California, insured with State Farm. All it took to add coverage on my Trail was a five minute phone call to my Agent. Gave her the VIN number, discussed coverage options, got some grief for adding yet another policy (in a joking way, I have almost 15 policies with them!) She took my payment, E-mailed me a copy of the insurance card for my Trail and I moved-on with my day.

Mid 40's, clean record, excellent credit, bike is garaged, used only for leisure and I'm paying $228 a year for my Trail. I also have a policy for a different vehicle (not a motorcycle) with Progressive. With them you can add a policy 100% on-line if that's easier for you. Not sure how the cost compares though as I've never gotten a quote from them for one of my bikes.

If you have more than one bike Progressive is hard to beat. 11 motorcycles, 3 quads, 3 SxS, 1 snowmobile with them. Sometimes when you add a bike your cost goes down. So if you add a cheap bike they figure you ride the others less and drop your rate.

Okay. So if I have multiple policies with Progressive, I should get a discount. Obviously I need to buy a second motorcycle!

They put more than one bike on a policy. I had 3 newer expensive bikes on a policy. A guy gave me a bike that was his grandfather's and a kind of rare bike anyway on the condition I got it running and passed it on. It needed the normal stuff for a bike that had been setting for over a decade. Tries, battery, carb work, clean up and detail. When I had it ready to go I put license and just lability insurance so I could ride it for a while to prove it out before selling it. When I got the insurance "bill" and updated insurance card it was a $35 refund check.
