I just completed a little overnite ride with LRD. I tested out the new DIY pannier hardracks, the Tusk pilot Panniers, and basically ALL the various mods Ive done to LRD. The Ride was from Chino Area(Califonia) up route 66 and over the Cajon Pass, then onto the Lucerne Valley to King of the Motos (https://ultra4racing.com/2021-king-motos-faq-and-details). I toured aroung KOM then found a slice of heaven in a remote desert camp spot. The ride was a mix of slab and dirt...some sand, some deep ass sand, some rutted dirt, etc. The bike is freakin AMAZING as an Adventure Bike. I weigh 200 pound+ gear, + about 50 pounds of camping gear. Not a single complaint. More than enough power to cruise @ 45-50mph on the flats and 1st-2nd gear in the dirt. Very predictatble, balanced-I couldnt be happier with LRD and the panniers. AND my DIY welds on the hardracks held up just fine. A word of caution: Do not pack like me! I pack heavy...Migolito likes his comforts. Yes, I take a table, yes I take a very comfortable chair, and hell yes I take a BBQ...Doesnt everyone? I took my 'winter set up', meaning 20deg semi-rectangular long down sleeping bag, 2 person Copper Spur tent, extra long 3" inflatable mattress, heated shirt, heated gloves, extra clothes, etc. My winter set-up adds about a 50% increase in bulk and weight. I got a lot of double takes when folks looked at LRD.

Excellent report! and I'm jealous as I can be. I have my gear packed and ready, just waiting on weather. It'll probably be June before I can escape. keep going and keep the reports coming. It makes these cold grey days a lot better to read your adventures.

Believe it or not the SCal weather has been cold rain and snow in all our mountains(everywhere I just went) And LRD refuses to work in the snow. I caught a break in weather and just went for it. I had my complete winter setup, so I could take whatever was sent my way (but that really sucks). It turned out to be absolutely perfect weather. When Spring/summer/fall get here I'm gonna do some Adv rides a little more than overnite. I gotta say again how really impressive the LRD is in the dirt. It has such an easy going attitude.

I envy all the public land out west, I'd never go home if I had access to it. It looks like you were in a beautiful spot and had a total blast doing it.

Heck yes! Nicely done. As was said in a professional review, your setup makes everybody else look like they're overdoing it.

Thanks for the report. So happy to live in Sacramento/Tahoe. Politics sucks, but weather, food, scenery, and outdoor options are the best. This coming from a guy who spent most of his formative years in New England. Although I did have to shovel my Tahoe driveway twice this weekend.

I have never understood shoveling snow. Don't the garbage cans fill up rather quickly?

I gave up on the cans and started using plastic bags, they stretch.

I hire a guy to do it when I'm not away and he uses a blower and dumps it on my front lawn to pile up. When I'm there, I push it into the street and the town plow shoves it along the road.
