DISCLAIMER: This is in no way a definite say-all. There are probably many factors that probably affected my experience.
Hey all, I thought I'd share my experience with the using a 14T-38T and 13T-38T setups, and why I may have been a bit too rash in changing it over to the 13T-38T setup. So, let's get started.
When I first bought my 2023 trail #2332, I was somewhat disappointed in the performance of the the 125cc engine shortly after it's manual-specified break-in period of 600 miles, when I made a thread on here a couple of months ago and decided to throw the 13T sprocket on. And it did make a significant difference, and I rode it out to just shy of the 1000 mile-mark, so I decided to put the 14T back on and see if there was a difference now at 1100.
And there was, it was pretty huge. The 14T sprocket could now hold its own again virtually anything that made me swap to the 13T with relative ease, probably thanks to the longer stroke with the GROM head the 2023 model has. It took practically anything I threw it at: tar, gravel, hill climbing, and trail riding was just as close if not as good as if I were using the 13T. It's actually kinda shocking. The engine feels much more torque-y than at the 700 mile mark, and the auto clutch feels like it can take much more abuse now after the second clutch adjustment. I think that I think there's still needs to be much more break-in for the cycle, since 2nd gear is DEFINITELY a tall 2nd meant for street riding (3rd and 4th are closer to each-other so it's not as bad) which may bet better down the line. And I expect it to be damn near fully broken-in once I get another 1000-1500 or so miles packed into it. After this, I think I'm just going to keep the 13T sprocket on-hand for quick change-outs if I'm going to do serious (read, extreme for the Trail) trail riding with it. Otherwise I'm keeping the 14T on and keep on buying a 14T from now on. We live and learn.
If anyone else has had a similar experience, do share below. It may help other weary Trail riders in the future. Thanks!
