Replacement Shifter/Foot Pegs

Hello,

Being a noobie, I am not sure where the best place might be to purchase OEM or good quality replacement parts for my 2022 Trail. My last spill resulted in a bent shifter and left foot peg, so I am looking to replace both. I like the heel shifter, so I am not looking for a toe-only replacement shifter. I have heard of Revzilla, WeBike, and of course I assume I can get OEMs from a dealer. But perhaps someone might be able to suggest an upgrade or other interesting replacement that might serve me better than stock OEM replacement. Thanks in advance.

I don't have a recommendation for a replacement, you might just want to buy the OEM one again. I can tell you that the black Honda OEM accessory fold away shift lever with heel-toe operation sold for the 2023 JA65 model does NOT fit the 2021-2022 JA55. At least not without modification beyond bending to reshape it. The shift spline is the same but that pedal pivots at a lower axis and sticks out more on the shifter spline where it hits the foot peg/step mount.

RevZilla, Partzilla, and Rocky Mountain ATV/MC have all been great to buy OEM parts through. WeBike is international where it ships from Asia, so I only use it to buy Japanese or Thai market OEM parts. It will cheaper for you to buy USA market parts from a USA vendor, assuming you are in the USA.

Many thanks. I am going to call up my local Honda dealers tomorrow and see what they can do. I did look at that black foldaway shift lever as well as the brake lever, so thanks also for letting me know it won't fit my 2022.

You're very welcome. Same as you, I like the OEM shifter design of having heel-toe action and was hoping the folding one would work as a slightly improved design where the toe folds away in a spill.

For reference here are photos of a 2021 JA55 gear shift lever (silver, and a recalled one) next to the Honda folding change pedal JA65 accessory 08U72-K2E-J10 (black)

One other bit of caution, the pinch bolt on the OEM shifter, at least on my 2021, is only about as hard as hardtack. I recommend holding it up to the shaft to gauge the distance that the shifter should seat onto the spline, mark on whatever parts you need to with marker or tape to record that depth, then put it on at the appropriate depth and be careful not to overtighten the bolt.

Much appreciated, thanks! I'm not much of a mechanic, so any help I can get is very much welcome.

I'm a fan of Rockymountainatvmc.com

I tried them, but actually finding the shifter pedal was difficult. No matter what search term I tried, all I seemed to get were explosion diagrams of the gear box. I called one of my local dealers (I'm in between two) and they ordered the parts for me. Basically the same as finding them online. But it does look like a cool site for other gear and accessories.

There is an oem section, it can be tricky. Looks like they have some parts in stock, they drop ship others…

Thanks so much! This goes above and beyond! I did not think to look there because it's labeled as kick starter arm, which wasn't my issue. I find it so amusing that the rubber tip on the shifter has its own OEM part#. You would think they'd just include it.

I went ahead and rotated the kick starter and shifters back one notch respectively last night, much better.
