I usually ride all the time with my High Beams set to ON as I figured it increases visibility but I got to thinking last ride is there reasoning to not do that?

So I did a little testing today during the day, I would not describe the headlight as blinding in <any way> on high beams during daylight. I could stare directly into it at 10-20 feet for a couple seconds. I would not be annoyed at all as a car driver. Please test for yourself. Yes I agree at night it would be a diff story.

Thats subjective to say the least. High beams on at me even in the daylight get a finger and a nice flash back. There's no good proven reason to do it. And, you can get ticketed for high beams into oncoming traffic, but thats rare.

Easy choice here: it’s blatantly illegal to use high beam/ driving/ fog lights during the day unless there’s inclement conditions in our state. But lane splitting & sidewalk parking are accepted within reason.

Interesting...I guess it's up to cop's discretion...I drive with headlight + fogs on all the time in my truck for safety reasons in many many states...they're aimed correctly of course and I've got no complaints driving behind many cruisers throughout the years...

take a cheap led flashlight and shine it in your eyes for 20 seconds. its way less beam throw than a headlight. see how enjoyable that is. same thing.

Who knew high beams could be such a contentious issue.
When I was around 7 years old, I would sit on my Pop’s lap and drive/steer the car. One night a person coming towards us had their high beams on. I commented on this, he pushed the floor button on-and-off, but the car left their high beams on. He said; when this happens, don’t look into the lights, look ahead and towards the white line, but keep your peripheral vision. I’ll never forget that lesson, and it’s the first time I heard the word peripheral.

here's why it irritates me to no end. its blatant disregard for everyone else on the road. If someone's looking at their phone, you could have flashing blue lights coming at you and they still wont notice. So, there's no point. I also feel the same way about headlight modulators.

Come on ...THIS particular headlight is not blinding at 10+ feet on high beams during the DAY! I'd rather someone be annoyed at me then not see me and turn into me. Please test for yourself before passing judgement.

I'm with you FRAC...It's only a few moments of inconvenience and if the annoyed person noticed then I live to ride another day...I don't practice high beam during the day and definitely not at night but I cut slack for those who do...

How many motorcycles do we drive by in a day compared to cars? Not many...the one we miss at the wrong time is too late for regret...

if you think they are going to notice you more with the high beam on than the low during the day, thats laughable. but its annoying and a dick move. but hey, I see that all the time. I saw about 30 bikes riding today. id say maybe 3 or 4 had high beams and driving lights (Harley style cruisers) . it's the same reason squatted trucks are becoming illegal its the lights can't be aimed down enough and are considered blinding. its about being courteous to others on the road. I guess thats beyond the scope of 20 percent in this pole.
