Comparing the 2023 USA and Canada models against each other it's not likely to be much difference beyond the shift pattern, stickers, the USA model having a spark arrestor, and the Canadian model having more spare fuses.

If the parts fiches are correct, the USA and Thailand models also keep the JA55 rear rack instead of the getting the new JA65 rear rack, and the USA racks will be missing the extra 4 threaded mounting points for accessories that Canada received. Once the first USA models get delivered, we will see. If this turns out to be true, there will be a market for used Canadian rear racks. So if you are thinking of changing your rear rack to a Diablo or other setup, please keep this in mind.

I like the bike, I’ve ordered the bike, but some of you absolutely amaze me with your attention to detail. 💪💪💪

No one here is talking about the US model being the updated one with higher compression and different bore and stroke. It also apparently weighs almost 5 lb less. That's why I'm putting down a deposit for a 2024, and also hoping for green or brown to be imported into Canada. I've had 3 previous Honda red bikes and need a change.

The 2023 model in the USA and Canada both have the updated higher compression engine, so if you're able to track down a 2023 you wouldn't need to wait. Keep an eye on the classifieds if you're okay with buying used, some folks don't find the CT125 to meet their expectations and end up selling them with low miles.

Picked up the trail today. The shift pattern is 4 down, as in toe shift down to go up in gear, 1-2-3-4. The heal shifter changes down 4-3-2-1. Not sure why Canada gets the opposite of the US who are 4 up with the toe up. You would think all of North America would be the same?

The New Zealand 2023 JA65 is the same. Ok if this is your only bike but it certainly messes with my head when swapping between bikes. I was wondering if getting a USA gear drum would solve the issue.

I’m used to it now, doesn’t both me. My secret is to always use the heal and toe shifter with my foot on top. I don’t shift down with my toe under the shifter. This way I don’t get confused with my other bikes.

Mine is 2023 JA65 made in Thailand.

As you indicated, I cannot find the 4 threaded mounting point on the rear rack.
Essentially the rear rack is JA55 left over.

From watching YouTube videos, the Japanese version JA65 does Not have the Rear side round reflectors (by the license plate).
This one is made in Thailand

The NZ JA65 2023 gets the rack with extra threaded bolt holes and no reflectors on the rear.

Interesting. It sounds like the New Zealand JA55 models may have been in common with the Australian market models, and the NZ JA65 models are now Japanese market models. Since Australia cut off CT125 imports, it would make sense that Honda Motorbikes NZ (Blue Wing Honda) needed to source the bike of a different region for 2023.

Aren't all versions of the CT125/Trail 125/Hunter Cub made in Thailand? I thought they were, and I thought that the differences were simply made specific for the destination country where they were sold, but I do not know that. Where are the Canadian 2023 Trail 125s and New Zealand CT125s manufactured? It should be on the VIN sticker or in the code in the VIN number. If it is true that all of the CT125/Trail 125/Hunter Cubs are made in Thailand, then we should stop using Made in Thailand to indicate which way a model is configured. I think dmonkey is right in calling it the market model, rather than the country of manufacture model.

Yes, all of the CT125s so far have been made in Thailand. Their VINs begin with a World Manufacturer Identifier of MLH which is THAI HONDA CO., LTD. and specifies a vehicle type of motorcycle.

Yes, that is unrelated to it being sold in Canada. The videos you have been watching are of the older JA55 model. The easy to spot giveaway is the oil filter cover on the lower right side of the engine, and the cross bar in the silver engine guards. Both are missing in the older videos. The dipstick change happened with the change to the new engine to the JA65 model that you and the rest of the world are getting.
Look at the Canadian model's parts fiche , transmission section , you'll see there is a drum-lock
plate attached to one of the output shaft's (splined) gears . This spring-ed plate will lock/unlock the drum , depending on it spinning , or not. At a stop , drum will completely freely rotate .
I found this crazy at first , got used to it and now go back to Neutral mostly using the gimmick .

The clutch adjuster was much too loose on mine when new , I readjusted it with minimal play . Made shifting up much smoother . Shifting down ?...well I'm still working on it but it's getting better by the day as both transmisson AND rider are breakin' in ...

There's a kit sold by Webike that replaces the semiautomatic clutch opening ramp with
a little slave hydraulic cylinder ....very nice on paper ...but I've decided to live with the somewhat
clunky oem system (it does the job reliably enough to my retro tastes ).
