i would typically agree w that except they (honda/keihin) make country/region specific ecms. (or they have in the very recent past).

Has anyone even done a reflash/replacement of the ECM? It would be nice to get a bit more oomph out of the bike........ 🤔
Going back to this, someone from Thailand posted their dyno'd gains on a CT125 (JA65) that they tuned. Just shy of 2 wheel horsepower difference after the ECM flash. Keep in mind they're in Thailand so likely starting with a stock ECM for the Thai market, which is a different part number than the USA market one and could have a different tune on it making for a different baseline.

I was just about to post that I FINALLY hit 60! Flat road, side wind but steady, south louisiana, so probably BELOW sea level... Previous record was 57. I'm usually struggling for 52mph 99% of the time though. I only use it for back roads whenever possible, but that's the point of this bike, not zip'n around the interstate. (I really do need to get a 2nd bike though, for those zippy days)

Another data point for the "top speed" topic. Here's a top speed run of a stock Japanese market CT125 JA55 at Fuji Speedway.

With a petite female rider tucked down on the long straight it topped out at 91-92 km/h displayed on the meter and 89 km/h (~55 mph) measured.

Oh my does that bring back memories... Ran back and two from Florida to Redondo Beach, CA numerous times, though not on a donkey.... lets just say back in the 80's Honda sold bikes that could make the run with just a few stops for fuel/restroom/food. I got pulled over once, got clocked at 118... cop said what the hell... I told him I fly for US Military... so it's not a problem. He wrote me a ticket anyway! Looks like nothing much has changed on that road in 40 years. Although my need for speed has long since waned.

I’ve tested my stock 2023 on a long flat section of road near the waterfront and the top speed I was able to hit was 53-54mph, with no luggage, a 170lb rider, and a tailwind. When the wind is kicking up off the bay and hitting me from the front/side I max out at 51-52mph.

I wish it had another 10mph in it but I knew the limitations going in and this doesn’t really bother me. Unlike most CT125 owners I bought this as an urban commute bike and as long as I’m not riding in really hilly areas it’s been easy for me to keep up with regular city traffic everywhere I’ve gone.

Ended up with a new top speed last weekend. Headwind but heading pretty significantly downhill. Speedometer said 61, Rever says 60. I'm going with the bike on this one and calling it 61. Also, a 170lb rider and find I hit low 50s on flat ground. Mostly ride in the forest though so I don't end up at 4th gear WOT very often.

It clearly states in the CT 125 forum code book, section 12, paragraph 4.6. Wind assisted, downhill speeds do not count in "Top Speed" criteria. Only flat surface, no wind from any direction, are considered for Top Speed! And the speed must be GPS speeds, not the factory speedometer which is very user friendly in it's speed readouts. Just sayin!

Don't disagree, but for the record it was a headwind. What does the rulebook say about wind inhibited downhill GPS speeds? :ROFLMAO:

Max speed of 58-60mph on flat ground with a one time top of 64mph on the downhill. Im 140ish lb. Would be great to be able to maintain 60 though. I put a lot of thought into going BBk on the trail but probably keep it mostly stock and some day add another bike.

I really love the Zx4rr especially the 40th anniversary color schem, it is the dream bike for now.
