My dealer in northern California as the same completely vague no commitment no idea of a forecast. I have no idea how a company like Honda can work without an updated forecast this makes no sense regardless of supply chain constraints.Called to check in on my order here in Chicago. The dealer hasn't heard a thing: "It could be in two weeks, or it could be in December. Gee, I hope you get time to ride it this summer."
Patience is a virtue, right?
Great idea, im in a similiar position.. This thing runs great....Honestly I might just go pick up a cb500x and call it good. I will keep my ct90 for now and once more stock becomes available I'll sell my ct90 and buy a 125.
I would guess this is a niche bike and more of a brand builder then a moneymaker... A friend asked a Yamaha rep why they cant up their 2 stroke game to keep up w the Austrians in the $8000+ bike class. The rep stated their power sports division can not make enough outboard motors to keep up with demand, dirt bikes are mostly a brand thing in the US. Outboards are everywhere and not cheap, those pay the bills, the CT-90 IMO builds more of the brand in the US and the hard to get factor just adds to that.I have no idea how a company like Honda can work without an updated forecast this makes no sense regardless of supply chain constraints.
It depends on the individual dealer. Markups are common in auto and cycle industries when vehicles are hot and in short demand. Sadly there usually isn't much you can do about it but either pay or wait until demand goes down.Got the call yesterday my Trail 125 was in (put my deposit in back in Sept.) Drove to the dealer (next town over) and there it was in the showroom. Went to the sales managers office and he handed me the invoice, they had tacked on an additional $500 bringing it just shy of $6000.00. I asked about the extra $500 and he said they were allowed to due that. Anyway I decided to wait and got my $100 deposit back. Anyone else run into this bait and switch type tactic or is it just a SF bay area thing?
I still have the 1974 CT90(see background), but picked this up today. Man it's sweet. You just wanted the first to leave. (just kidding)
Enjoy your adventure and we will see you back when you have your Honda.

East Bay Motor Sports in Hayward treated me well. I picked my bike up last December. No BS there. I also really like the service department. The service manager is a really good guy. My bike was $6000. Tax, license, delivery, prep and extended warrant. I’ve got the invoice. No mark up. I did get them to lower the prep fee.Got the call yesterday my Trail 125 was in (put my deposit in back in Sept.) Drove to the dealer (next town over) and there it was in the showroom. Did they buy you a drink or give you some lubrication? That is insane, about what I paid but not fair IMO. $1200 for dealer prep and rigging fee??? When they offered me the extended warranty I explained I rode my 1975 into work that morning at 20 degrees.East Bay Motor Sports in Hayward treated me well. I picked my bike up last December.
