This video came out yesterday and already has 17,000 views.. All I can find about it are four videos made yesterday, all in Thai. I can't find the specs on it, but the guy may say the size of the engine in his video, but so far, I have been unable to translate it. I think it is either a 125 or a 110. Looks and shifts like a CT125, with better gauges, two up seating, and knobbier tires than the CT125. If anyone can find the specs on it, please post the link, much appreciated.

Similar to Honda I think they made a model naming mistake that will lead to some confusion. Honda already had a CT125 years prior, and there already was a Yamaha PG-1. Luckily for them nobody is going to be accidentally ordering Yamaha PG-1 guitar pre-amp parts for their new Yamaha PG-1 motorcycle
It's a sharp looking bike, I imagine it will do well in other parts of the world if the price is right. Wouldn't hold my breath for it to make it to the USA.

It is going to take more cc's, deeper suspension and maybe a hi/lo transmission to eat into any amount of appreciable sales of the CT.

It looks like they took the Yamaha Sight/Finn 115 and used that platform for this bike in the same way that the CT125 was built on the Honda Wave 125 platform. Cost effective and would explain why it's 115cc rather than 125cc.

Larger than 125cc becomes a tough sell in some markets because any larger displacement can go into a more expensive tier of registration and insurance, increasing the total cost of ownership. As for 115cc vs 125cc, Honda do alright selling their 110cc bikes alongside the 125cc bikes in markets where both are offered. The CT125 is a "premium" priced bike in markets where small displacement bikes are popular and readily available. For example the Wave 125i is only 2/3 the cost of the CT125 in Thailand, and the Wave 110i is less than half the cost. If the "trail" stylized PG-1 ends up being priced closer to the common commuter bikes than the CT125, I think it could certainly win some sales from folks who would pass on the CT125 due to its cost. Fuel economy is also likely to be a big factor. The Yamaha Sight got the equivalent of 200mpg+ with real world use. If the PG-1 gets anywhere near the same fuel economy that will be another significant selling point in countries that don't have relatively cheap fuel.

It is a 115 generating 8.6 hp and 7 fpt. It has 16" wheels. Firm numbers on price are slippery at this point but it will likely be cheaper than the CT with some saying as much as 30% less. It has a gear indicator that seems to be important to some. The engine is the Vega force so no teething issues. If this does make it to the US and Canada it will be giving the CT strong competition. The only downsides apparent to me at this point is the exhaust being more vulnerable and lack of snorkel intake if used off road and no kick start.

Happy to see this post. Saw a mention about it being announced soon sometime during the last week and I have searched in vain for days for something about it. Well here it is!! Thanks for posting. I doubt it's coming to the US tho. My local dealer has few if any bikes, hasn't had hardly any and says he doesn't know if he's getting any bikes. Ever. "I should check Yamaha dealer somewhere else." Says covid really affected the supply chain although the floor room filled with several dozen UTVs starting at 20k and going to 40k would seem to imply he is lying or just misinformed. Can't blame him really. There have been two baby boomer couples waiting behind the baby boomer couple signing paperwork the last few times I've been there. Thank god Covid didn't affect the UTV supply chain like it did for $2500 kids dirt bikes. Btw I would buy a PG-1 if Yamaha brought it to the US.

A few brands already have accessories to show for the PG-1. Yoshimura have the scrambler/tracker high pipe exhaust covered. Could use a skid plate with more coverage.

Price est to be 64,900 Bahts in Thailand, $1870. The CT costs around 89,000 Bahts, $2550. If these figures are true, est $2950ish, and it becomes available in the US the CT definitely will have some strong competition.

look at that head pipe just waiting to get smashed. what a dumb design.
All the better for the aftermarket guys....:whistle:I wonder how much a skid plate and guard will end up costing after shipping from Thailand  25%30% the cost of the bike:oops:

That's just one customized build showing off the Yoshimura setup, other skid plates for the stock low exhaust cover the head pipe similar to how it is on the CT125.
