Price and fuel economy.

Don't think anyone will need to make that decision in the USA anytime soon though.

neither of these things factored into my reason for buying one. its about fun factor and (some) practicality i think. (us market). also, a lot of sentimental/nostalgia sold these here. If it was strictly price and fuel economy, everyone would buy navis and put stupid knobbies on them.

Well then, the CT125 is the clear winner as the only option available 😉 It's the CT125, the Super Cub with knobbies, or Chinese clones. Not much competition in this market, we spend more on vehicles, and motorcycles are seen as luxury items or powersports toys.

If the PG-1 were to make it to the states it would likely sell well based on fuel economy and price alone, to people who would have possibly never even considered a CT125.

Most of the trails or small bore bikes sold HERE, i seriously doubt, were bought for fuel mileage reasons. Its a benefit but not a driving factor overall for most sales. I know there are some, but very very few overall. also, if it came to the states, the market precedent has already been set and would prob be in the 4k range. Realistically, a lot of people if they were that budget minded here, would probably buy the XR150 as it performs the same and a hair better TBH, better mileage is about the same, and less money out the door. 124 mpg out the door and almost 3 gallon fuel tank. msrp of 2900 bucks vs the trail at 1k more. also, its suited for a passenger quite well.

Im not seeing fleets of these out there either, and i own one. So... i would think the PG-1 is interesting, but def not great for the us market except as a novelty, sort of like the monkey.

From what i am seeing , the PG1 offers 30mm front forks as opposed to the 27mm forks on the CT125, from vidie's i have seen the suspension is much softer and you can clearly see the amount of travel that is available. ITIMGARAGE on FB ( https://www.facebook.com/Itimgarage) has already modded these to 135cc, ( https://www.facebook.com/photo?fbid=777427714422287&) early days yet but i suspect that when I arrive back into thailand shortly there is 2 CT125's that will quite possibly be edeleted off my shopping list and replaces with 2 of these PG1's from Yamaha. https://fb.watch/p1vmkOKmXw/ set=pcb.777427284422330

Well it looks like Yamaha is going to snatch defeat out of the jaws of victory on this one. Only $300 less than the CT125, hard pass on that. (n)

There's no USA announcement, so no USD price. I wouldn't pay much mind to a YouTube video that's a voice over and stock footage from the Thai Motor Expo, there's junk generated content like that all over YouTube.

If they bring it I'll buy one. There has been video and chatter about it for about a month now. The front shocks have a good bit more travel that our CT's... it will be a decent bike. Maybe it will incentivize Honda to fix a few things.

It looks like an interesting bike, though it seems to be heavily street-oriented if the rumors if it being able to kit 100kpH/60 MPH are true... And it makes me wonder if it were to somehow come over to the US/EU, wouldn't it get kneecapped in power for emissions control?
