I found a couple pelican/hardigg cases on marketplace locally that fit perfectly on the trail. I need to refine it a little bit, but it fits square on the cargo rack, fits a helmet inside, and is completely waterproof. (this photo was before I got to mount it properly but you can get a general idea of the size)

No, it's not insulated, if it was, it would be much bulkier; They usually have foam on both sides of the clamshell to secure whatever was being transported, but I took that out so it's just the hard plastic shell. I'll have to get more pictures. It's a lot like the courier packs, but it only cost me about $60 instead of the $2-500 + shipping lol
I think the guy still had more, so check your local facebook marketplace for "hardigg" and see if there's anything around you!

I run a BigAnt collapsable crate, size medium, with ROK straps, a couple ball bungees(corners) to hold fuel and water bottles etc., and a cargo net… I really like this setup as it virtually disappears when not needed and yet provides a good bit of utility on a moment’s notice. The downside is you are going to carry your helmet, gloves and Jacket when you walk away from the bike. At least where I “currently” live. I like the idea of a lockable box, but I also really like the ability to have it disappear when not needed. If there was such a thing as a water resistant folding lockable box…

This is my "grocery getter" setup. Not sure if I would use this for long road trips, or days out on the trail but with their expandable nature they are out of the way most days, but if I end up getting more than I planned on, there is always plenty of room. I use the top box as a lid for the bottom, and it is always there if I need more room. Could do a fair sized Costco run with this!

Thanks for the info, mainly on the screw size for the threaded holes. M6. How are folks holding down the Harbor Freight style boxes being the holes are so close together?

My top box is not Harbor Freight, but still plastic, and I used a sheet of aluminum composite as an interior floor to help distribute the clamping force so the washers under the bolt heads won't rip through the plastic as it flexes over time.

Thanks a bunch. Not sure I’m that handy but will figure it out.

Hi mate, are you still using this setup? Thinking of doing the same on mine, though probably I will use the lower profile box.
Yep, still 'using' it but my bike has been in the shop since the end of June 2024 as they are still trying to fix the engine knock sound... they now say mid January it will be done!

Just got this on Ebay. $115 with free shipping. Impressed with the quality for this price.
Do you happen to have a link for this? Pretty sure I have the same top box on mine and I can't figure out how to get the dang thing off. Want to shift it back a bit to make room for a passenger seat pad.

Quick update on the rear rack design, I decided in the end to go with the Milwaukee Packout system. I did not want to modify the Honda mount, so I drilled the Milwaukee base plate instead. The two rear bolt holes line up with the Honda rack, the front mount is just a compression type fitted (though I did also insert spaces so it limits how it compresses), bolt is facing up as it made it easier to line it all up. The bracket is painted, but also has some heat shrink tubing around it. As the baseplate is hollow I inserted spacers on the inside of it, so when it is all tightened up it does not compress the plastic base plate.

The green bar is only green cos I don’t have black paint lol. I could have used washers, but wanted to help spread the load a little bit better than just two washers. the Bolt heads just catch the bottom of the cases, but it’s not a issue as such.

The lock you can see is a 3d printed latch that I found. It works really really well. Highly recommend. Note the the “latches” can be different lengths depending on what box/ tool organizer you are fitting
