Hi there. Mine is a 2023 with the oil filter. I have purchased this one and am about to install per the instruction video above. You saying this won't work now for real??This eBay/alababa/beezeeals shift indicators don’t work on 2023 ja65 trails. The harness is different now and the stock magnet part seems to already be able to read the gear of the stock gauge could read it - some hidden menu??
And shift points in this bike aren't critical, doesn't matter what the numbers are, you will know the gear to be in by engine behavior... Not enough power, shift, winding up too much, shift, if it doesn't hold the speed shift back!seat time. you'll learn in a hurry by feel.
True.... I still try to shift into phantom 5th from time to time. Might be because the other bike that gets ridden much is going 55mph in 4th @ 3000 RPM and there is another gear left I don't think a gear indicator would help me I bet I'd still reach for another gear @ 7000rpm after ridding the other bike.seat time. you'll learn in a hurry by feel.
Do they make the Opmid for the ‘23 model yet? Looking online I’m only seeing ones that specify working with the ‘21-‘22 model.I like the OPMID cluster and gear indicator, and it's one of the top mods on the bike, but IMO just the gear indicator isn't a good reason to get it (#1 ability to see the speedometer, #2 speed correction when changing gearing, #3 tachometer). Plus the gear indicator doesn't quite work how you expect it to either. If it were software it'd be buggy software.
Honda has some shift guidelines in their manual. Start there and work your way up. The rest I'd agree with @Kev250R, but I'd also add "revisit the parking lot exercises even when you're experienced." You'll use your low speed skills on every ride you ever do, even if only a little, and being able to basically balance at a standstill is an awesome skill to show off.
I wouldn't expect shifting to be difficult just because you haven't had to do it before; honestly after just a couple of rides it'll likely become second nature. Most things in life are like that.Oof, yeah, not a fan of that since I was planning to get the gold plug…
This is the first “motorcycle” I’ve owned so I can tell that learning to shift is going to be difficult. Everything I’ve owned before this was some variety of clutchless scooter or moped with a throttle and dual hand brakes so I’m not used to needing to think about what I’m doing with my feet at all
