the doc fee for these bikes is 300 dollars so that should be the only "fee" from the dealer end( I paid 4299 plus nevada tax and registration for my 2023, so msrp plus the 300 doc fee and tax) anything else is a mark up, and considering Oregon doesn't have sales tax 5000 is still scummy. not a bad price at all mind you and I certainly dont intend to insult the buyer, but I do mean all offense to the dealers. they disgust me, paying 5000 isnt even that large of a mark up which begs the question why are they even bothering with that at all?
Not to defend the dealer, because there is no defense, but Oregon actually charges sales tax on vehicles and has done so since 2018. See here: https://www.oregon.gov/dor/programs/businesses/Pages/Vehicle-privilege-and-use-taxes.aspx

I just went through all this with a local (Illinois) Euro bike shop I've bought through before because they were acquired by a different Euro bike shop.

Charging a doc fee is up to the dealer. If they do charge one they may be required to charge the same fee on every bike sold from that location irrelevant of its MSRP. Some states also require a temporary plate be issued (for a street legal bike) irrelevant of if it leaves on a trailer or not, so if they don't charge a doc fee they eat or shift that cost. If you're in-state they may also be required to process the title application rather than providing you with the manufacturer certificate of origin. Some states reciprocate vehicle tax with each other where even if you buy out of state they may charge your own state's tax rate.

Was at the local dealer today (picking up ordered service parts) and inquired about the 2024 CT125 situation. They are getting 1 in April and then some in June (he was speaking very non-committed, and they have a bigger, i.e. closer to Austin, dealership down the road a piece. So maybe more of them there?). Asked about price/markup and here, in Central TX, (at this dealership, at least) nope. Just the stated MSRP, Destination charge, then tax and license.

Well, I’m still hoping that is the situation. But I ain’t sat down and signed nor paid-on-full for nothin’, yet…
Well, I’m hopeful, yet reserved and cautious. I will wait until June (yes, deposit down on a yellow 2024) to be proud.

In Los Angeles CA I was quoted $6800 OTD for a 2024! Dealer said they were hard to come by so there is a premium price on them!

Just got mine Thursday! The yellow was a huge selling point for me. Been wanting one of these since they were introduced, but never saw one. Once I saw the yellow, I put a deposit down and got it! Super excited to ride this thing! Nothing but smiles! 😁

Good for you, enjoy. Swap the front sprocket to a 13 Tooth fist mod. You will be happy you did!

I will certainly consider that. Will changing the sprocket affect the odometer?
Yes. Depending on what tires you run with it, it can also cause the ABS to fault.
There are "speedo healer" devices that will correct the speed/distance for both the speedometer/odometer and the ABS:

And there are aftermarket gauges that can be configured to correct the speedometer/odometer, but not the ABS without also utilizing a speedometer healer such as the ones listed above.

As an addition, having a ‘23 (and working with 12oclocklabs to use their corrector), (before corrector installation) installing a 13-tooth front sprocket (with stock tires) did not cause ABS to fault. But the speedo was off by +10%. I was after an accurate speedo and with the addition of the corrector, I have that. It is my belief that the pre-2023 units (ja55 vintage) were a bit more sensitive to changes effecting the ABS.

When we stop paying $1000 over MSRP, they will stop selling for $1000 over MSRP
