Jeesh, 2022's did NOT go up that much! If it was another 100 in line with the new freight, Id get it.

The local dealer that I initially ordered from was 5085 total. From what I see of other places, that was pretty fair.

I always thought that "out the door" meant out the dealer's door. In Missouri, you pay your sales tax and registration at the license office.

Missouri allows your prior motor vehicle sales to be used to offset sales tax on the new unit, within 180 days. In my case, I had to add $27 to my dealer out the door price because I had recently sold a vehicle and it was more than the purchase price of this one. Tag transfer, title fee, office fee only.

That's where it varies by location. Some OTD prices include all taxes, title applied for, and registration paid, others don't. Even where it is the norm to pay those at the dealership, they are often willing to accommodate selling a vehicle with no taxes collected and handing you the Manufacturer's Certificate of Origin or having it mailed to you. This can be advantageous if you buy the motorcycle in a different state than where you intend to register it and have it titled. The best way to get a low OTD price is to drive your car to the dealership, trade it in on a motorcycle, and then leave with a big smile knowing you left with it paying less than MSRP 🤣

MSRP is meant to include some margin of profit for the dealership, problem is that dealerships have largely had low numbers of new units show up the past few years. Without much new inventory many have either jacked up their prices to make similar revenue with less supply, or they've adapted their business by buying more used inventory to sell, doing consignments, selling more merch and accessories, selling electric bicycles and scooters, etc. A couple hundred bucks might be worth not having to wait to some people. $1,500 extra sounds like something I'd certainly pass on. There have been some decent prices on low mileage used CT125s on the classifieds section of this forum, another option for securing one without the wait.
American Honda only raised the price (freight surcharge) $100 for 2022, the rest is at your dealer.

These ridiculous markups are largely why I've been contacting other dealers. Keep expectations low until I get the OTD price in writing from the Dealership I have my deposit at. Would not put it passed them to go "Oh well I know we said the price would likely stay the same, but now that it's in the system we can see it actually went up $1000" or whatever. Thankfully my experience with dealers around New England has been relatively good price wise. Not usually huge markups, but you never know. Don't mind the dealer making a little money, especially if it saves me a trip to the DMV.

On that thought, the dealer did say the bike would be coming "this week or next week", and it's now Thursday of "next week". Hurry up and get my bike I'm missing out on precious "stare at it in my shed and wish it was Spring" time.

I for one am looking-forward to the day that the Dealership model is gone or significantly changes. When I was younger I enjoyed haggling, walking-out then having a salesman chase me out to the parking lot and convincing me to come back inside because all of a sudden they had a better deal, along with all the other dealer/buyer BS. Now I've sort of adopted the Jay Leno model of buying vehicles; if the price is fair, I pay it. If it's not, I walk.

FWIW When I was shopping for a new Trail last Spring my local dealer had one on their floor but wanted $6,500 OTD for it (here in CA OTD includes all taxes and license fees, every state is different). I walked and eventually bought a year-old Trail which came fully-farkled for $5K.

From private sellers, no dealers, no fewer than 5 new or used Trails available here, mostly spread about UT, 1 in Montrose CO. Some with virtually no miles appear to be from guys who had ordered and then decided to still buy after the looong wait, with the then-final intention of making a few $ from offering 4sale their rare LRD. As a regular watcher of this site, I can see some of these have been for sale for months, but then were relisted to appear as recent listings.
A couple months back I actually spoke with the guy in Montrose (Teddy - did several mods/adds, 140 BBK, guards, Opmid gauge, knobbies, etc.), it's a pretty decent deal considering the money he's put into the bike with only 425 miles on it.
Some sellers look like they're pretty proud of their little red gold mine, but who knows... price might be negotiable?
... and also a good old '84 CT110!

Man the old Trails look so good. Was fairly close to getting a lovely yellow CT90 way back when, and regret not going through with it.

Meanwhile my '22 is officially at the dealer. Got my insurance squared away, and I'm going to grab it tomorrow after work. The question now is am I going to ride it 45 minutes in the pitch black, freezing cold or find another way to get it home. Thinking about throwing it in the back of a buddy's truck and calling it a day. Would rather have my first ride be on my familiar rural backroads during the day than be through heavy traffic at night. Haven't rode a shifty any meaningful distance in 5 or so years, and the confidence just isn't there yet for a 45 minute ride in the dark. Gotta do what I gotta do though. Bike has to get home somehow and the Dealer isn't gonna hold it forever.

Put it in your buddies truck. At night with impatient traffic is not ideal. Get her home and then put easy miles on safe familiar roads so you don't have to flog the poor girl right out of the gate.

Same- walked in a minty 77 in yellow, with the subtank, and 700 miles that had been in a basement since 1983. Guy was stuck at 1300, I was at 1200. Idiota!

Truck it- cold and dark sucks!! Get it ready for spring, then take it for a ride on the TMT.

I did ask and was willing to pay, but they do not deliver at all. They said rarely they will deliver in-town if it's slow and they have extra staff. Unfortunately, neither of those criteria are met lol.

Plan tonight is to throw it in the back of a U-Haul van with a bunch of straps and call it a day. My girlfriend and another friend of mine are tagging along to help get it loaded and unloaded. In a nice turn of fate this Friday will be a shockingly nice 51° and sunny, and I just so happen to have it off. Turns out I will be able to get some good riding time in before Spring 😁

We made it home! Dealership gave us ramps to load it with, but we had to just muscle it out of the back once we got home. Suspension handled the drop out of the van like a champ. Still somewhat in a state of disbelief. It feels like it was too easy, and I should have more paperwork to do. Threw a kickstand plate on it last night, and will throw the battery tender harness in there sometime soon. I'm toying with the idea of swapping in the Gold Plug straight away. Still undecided. I'm bike number 4069 (nice). Here's some photos.

Well, seeing as you are the "boss", it's only fitting that you should have your mount.
Us hired hands are still waiting for ours.
I ordered mine in oct. 2022, it arrived on 12/29/22! I am so excited. My dealership, Bob Weaver Motorsports,
has only received 3 total, all preordered. When picking mine up a guy was admiring it, he offered me $6000,
of course I said NO. I aim 75 years old, driven about every bike known, this may be my last, my baby.
