Welp, exactly what I thought would happen happened. Just got the call from the dealer, on the coldest day of the year so far and just two days after our first snowfall, to say that they likely have a Trail coming in within the week that I can claim. Very cool. I may honestly ask them to winterize the bike, and just throw it in the shed or my basement for the winter. The last thing I want to do is learn to ride on icy roads.

Excited to finally get the bike, but somehow I just knew it would arrive in the dead of winter lol.
Congratulations, at least you've got it and can look forward to the spring. A similar thing happened to me with my 2007 Ural. It went into the garage on a battery tender along with my other bikes. I know it's a bit colder up where you are compared to southern Illinois where I am, but I've always found there's at least one good day every month that I can take each of them out for a 10 mile ride just to keep the engines running and tires turning.

Hey M, I meant to tell you I got mine back from the shop right before Thanksgiving.... I just walked in and they said "Oh its ready!". Unfortunately, its been mostly crap weather so I havent gotten much riding in outside of the neighborhood. Hope you are good and Merry Christmas! They did reset the odometer for some reason, oh well.
I had mine in my living room doing some stuff to it. Even started it,and revved it for an admiring hunter passing thru/ And NO! he was not just faking it. Next thing I know my girlfriend slipped in unnoticed ,and says I knew it! As she takes a photo,I just knew you would do this. Weather was crappy, had to warm up the frame? Less mess than if I hadn't brought it in than usual.

Our local dealer said that they "just now" put it on the showroom floor. They quoted me MSRP $3,999 + $200 Honda destination charge + $100 Honda freight surcharge
Total $4,299. LOL - and they loaded it in the back of the truck for free. I got home and rolled it in with some friends.

Honda Trail 125.jpg

It has since migrated to the utility room.

No, I haven't actually ridden it yet. It's 16 degrees outside and I'm a big sissy.
I DID install a battery tender harness, sourced a quart of GENUINE Honda 10W-30 motor oil,
ordered a magnetic drain plug, and a set of mirror extensions.

I gotta quit reading this forum now. You [censored]s are gonna farkle me to death. ;-)

My dealer added $495 onto those numbers for dealer prep, then wanted almost another $300 for paying with my debit card😲 SWMBO turned around and brought a check to save that"fee" :mad:Not sure what they did for the $495 other than put the mirrors on, check the oil and lighten my wallet. Tires were low and the chain bowstring tight:oops:
Merry Christmas you did good:cool:

You also did good...

We have a megasports place that advertises good prices, and then adds ... $1,300 onto a bike, plus fees. They also charge an additional $400 for a cash transaction.
That place quoted me $6,500 - plus the additional $400. They sell every one of those Trail 125's that they can get their hands on.

And, a Merry Christmas to you, too ! :)

So I just kinda got real determined and with the power of internet and the vast size of this beautiful country, called every dealer till I found one in Iowa. Honestly I thought it was Idaho which is substantially closer to me but I got one at MSRmuthereffinP and a shipper is hauling it for 500 bucks.

My original quote still stands at $5037 OTD which is not great, but not terrible either I suppose. With the recent influx of inventory I've thought about asking around other dealers in the state, but I already have a $500 deposit sunk in the $5037. I'd have to find something in that $4299 range to actually save money.

Did you agree to an OTD price and a non-refundable deposit? If you did, you could probably still talk your way out of it. Most dealers don't want someone to go through with a sale if they're not satisfied with it, it could lead to bad reviews. They're going to sell the bike either way, you're not the only customer in the market at that price so if they let you out of the agreement there's likely already someone lined up for it.

I was told they'd make the deposit non-refundable once a bike is on the way to them. Which it is now. May be worth getting OTD quotes from other dealers as references to haggle with anyway. The OTD quote was from July and not binding at all so it could change, but I've been informed that it is likely still accurate by the dealer. In July the $5037, was by far the best quote I got. With demand dying down, and inventory going up that could be a different story now.

If you ask for an inventoried price quote it would let you see how much of it is their markup if there is any. $4,299 is the base cost you're going to pay before any markup, taxes, or registration fees which are dependent on your dealer, county, and state. It sure wouldn't hurt to get a quote from another dealer to see how they compare.

$5037 OTD sounds reasonable to me.

lmao true. A couple hundred bucks certainly won't kill me, but I have been seeing quotes in the low 4ks recently and wanted to make sure I'm not being taken for a ride. I have heard of dealers tacking on a fee for paying cash as well which is annoying. If it's cheaper I'll just finance and pay it all month one.

Had my name on the dealer list for a long time and I was as surprised as the dealer was when one came in November. The dealer said it's only the second one he has had and had no idea as to when they might get another one. $4,400 plus license & taxes so now have a replacement for the Trail 110 I sold years ago and shouldn't have.

With tax ,tag, title, etc it was just under 5 grand. In a couple years, will a couple hundred dollars still be living in your head rent free? I put about a grand more in it to make it a motorcycle.I am at an extreme advantage to recoup the expense as to where ride, and where I live. SHTF and someone will try and kill you for it! Must be worth more than money at that point. Valuable things are, and always have been. Get rid of useless shit, and by the time you have,it will be worth more than you have in it. Sad day when you sell your boots! You were supposed to die in them!

This is the most reasonable comment I’ve heard on pricing so far. I just don’t know where people are claiming they got theirs for around $4k. Base price is $3900. Freight is $300. Those two costs are unavoidable. Even if your state doesn’t collect tax, you still have to pay title and reg fees and that still doesn’t take into account dealer margin. On top of that, 99% of dealers charge a dealer prep fee. The standard price on this is $400. Now before anyone cries foul, I called almost ever dealer in the southwest and that is the standard prep fee. It only goes up from there. Long story short, I agree with this being a reasonable price. It’s so ridiculous to say you got one for $4k OTD so I’m glad to see some reality.

Year and a half wait dealer called today said next guy in line would not answer phone or email, could I pick up this week said sure, then he told me what the new price was going to be ,I asked your not going to honor the price that was agreed to when I put down a deposit he said they could not do that because I ordered a 2021 and They only had 2022s and it was $1500 more. So I said SEE YA LATER cancel. I’am done with Honda. Have fun guys I am OUTA HERE!
