Well went with the confusion of where to mount my spare fuel. Think I'm going to use my 2 gallon rotopax as a backrest. The idea of mounting it low just didn't seem to work out. Gota run to the nut and bolt store. I'll post some photos of my planed so far, Cannonball setup soon.

Just make sure it's securely mounted, or they may not pass it at inspection. I'm sure you saw that SCB thread 'supplemental fuel' thread where scootericeland had that 5gal tank bungeed on the back of their seat. At least with the Trail125 the rack is massive and makes a solid area for bracketing stuff to.

(Kinda wishing I had picked up that OEM rack Dmonkey had listed. So I had one to drill or cut into for modding mounts. Can't bring myself to do put new holes in my green rack 😭 )

Alright, here you go boys. I think I'm on to something close to my setup for Cannonball. I need some thin foam on the 2gal rotopax to make a comfortable backrest. Mounted it to the rack with 2 400lb L brackets. Have the dash setup to where I can read the phone, Garmin and speedo. Plus hangers to carry 3 water bottles, 2 easy access storage bags and cheap highway pegs lowish on my crash bar. Big tool bag replacing where the tiny OEM toolbox sat. Oh, and running duro hf-307s 3.00-17 front and rear. I'm new to these duro tires but I wanted something a little more street oriented than the shinko 244's.1000007619.jpg1000007622.jpg1000007620.jpg1000007621.jpg

What jacket will you be wearing, and does it have a spot for back armor? Rather than running a backrest on the top box on my bike, I've found back armor inserts to provide decent comfort when leaning back. Something to consider.

I don't have back armor but I'm already worried with the heat in Texas. My jacket might have to be shed in the heat. I'm also looking at ordering some summer weather adv pants. Also I'm carrying all my gear on the bike, so my basket will be quite loaded also.

I am incredibly far behind in my preparation with 2 months to go. I’m just glad I got done what I did last summer. Still need highway pegs as I doubt my vice grip solution will pass tech. Worst case, they can be added after.

I dropped my bike off in Maryland Easter weekend to the location the shipper is picking it up. So I won't see my bike again until Oregon. Pulled the bike on the scales, the bike 550lbs loaded down, fueled and my 200lb self.

You’re either braver than I am, procrastinate less or are just more confident. Booger is technically ready but I am not.

I am under the 200lbs for the first time since 1993. Shooting for 185 at the starting line. I’m not carrying anything with me except for fuel and water. All that extra stuff is the reason I bought a cargo van for my wife to drive.

Come on man, it's going to be a blast. Remember at some point in time you said this would be fun, then bought your ticket. After that is when the actual worry started.

The seat was was a Harley police solo seat my nephew installed on the trail. Unfortunately he sold the ct so I can't post any pictures of it and I'm not sure how he mounted it.

This morning’s thoughts on the cannonball since I’m stuck in my cubicle:

The current Honda MiniMOTO count is 18 with 10 Monkeys, 6 CTs, 1 each Supercub and Grom that haven’t said they aren’t going (4 others registered but said they weren’t going). There are 9 others at 125cc or less.

The number of small displacement entries, while low compared to the total, is more than total participants in 4 of the previous cannonballs if everyone shows up. Given the length of the route this year, it is going to be the most difficult (and ill advised) one to show up on a 9hp bike. Hopefully, we all make it to the finish and there will be plenty of opportunity to trauma bond.

Although the Monkey is better suited for distance, I think the CT is a better pack mule for bringing things along.

All we can really count on is DaBinChe winning the category.

Are you able to resolve the recall on your ADV160 before the event?

I don't know yet. The letters aren't supposed to come out until Mid May, then who knows how long before the part is available. I may just run it anyway. Not sure what I'm going to do.

You and 26 others are in the same boat according to the thread over on that forum. I guess the Zumas just got a recall, too. I'm sure it will be fine.
