This is the ADV160 oil pump gear recall info. It's already been provided to dealers, just not yet sent directly to owners.
Might be a good idea to reach out to your dealer now and see if they can get the ball rolling on it.
Other people have tried, but the dealers won't move until the letters come out. I'll be out of town from the 14-29 of May. I'll get on it right after I get back. It might be a near thing, but I'll do my best.

I'll probably have some stickers on it but no numbers. The support vehicle will be sterile. I have concerns about faster riders doing things to bring down the wrath of the locals. I'm already going to stand out. I don't need to draw any additional attention.

Dang, I didn't think about the fast riders making the town mad. I feel like the small towns will be interested in the event more than mad at it. I'll be labeled up tho.

Yeah maybe so. I've been all done with my bike for a little while now. If I'm packing anything extra I have to carry it on the plane with me. Now I get to worry about the potential for a very cold ride on days 2 and 3 according to the average temp in June for Mccall Idaho. Than the extreme heat down south. Not a very big fan at all of the ridewithgps app. I might not even use the app at all. This years lack of the release of the route bothers me. I think that it is unique for this year but it makes me worry about not having time to study the route and fuel stops. My range is only 225-250 miles with my setup. It will be so much fun climbing some big mountains with this tiny bike tho. Oh and I see dabinche shows he's running 50cc with a 80% handicap. Curious as to what that bike will be.

I'm running with an extra 4 gallons of gas. I'm very conservative in my fuel mileage estimate. I can potentially do entire days without stopping at a gas station but I am planning to top off at 2-300 miles depending on the options available.

I expect it to be pretty cold until we get to Colorado, at least in the mornings. I will switch from cold weather to hot weather base layers probably before leaving Pocatello. I lived in Idaho for a while and spent a good amount of time in McCall. It does stay chilly in the summer.

Once my new clutch pads are installed in a couple days, I'm going to be climbing from 1400 feet to around 7200 feet loaded as I would be for the event to see how I feel about the 13T sprocket. I'm bringing 13-15T with me, though, I doubt I will use a 15 at all. I'd prefer not to swap but I can't make up my mind which one I want to run.

I opened RidewithGPS but I won't be using it. Maybe as a backup. I'm quite happy with the DMD2 I'm running and glad I ditched Garmin (famous last words).

Bin is riding up from his house to the start. I may be taking his spares up for him but he hasn't decided if he needs my help or whether I will be passing through his town early enough to catch him before he leaves. I don't know what he is running but I'm sure its crazy. I think it is an Aprilia SR50 but you can't buy them in the US.

I saw you were talking about sprocket changes. I'm just running the stock 14t as I want my ABS to be working on roads I've never been down before. Nice to see your getting a mountain run/test. DMD2, your just talking about, how do you like it? I may have to look into that.

It helps that I live on a mountain. The test roads are right outside my house.

I like DMD. It is android only, though. I'm running their hardware (tablet, harness, controller) on the bike and in the support van on a Samsung Tab Active5. The fact that I can just take a gpx file, drop it into my google drive and open it in the software is nice. No cords or proprietary software required.

I'm starting to finalize my list of items to bring. For the bike specifically:

Spare front and rear wheels (complete) with mounted Michelin City Extras
Spare unmounted Michelin City Extra
Spare tubes
Spare rubber damper set for final drive
Spare final drive assembly with 39T sprocket...or maybe 38 depending on which one I start with
Spare Niche X-Ring chain
Spare master links and clips
Spare front and rear axle collars
Spare axle nuts
Spare batter terminal bolts
Different size front sprockets
Spare front sprocket bolts and retainer
New battery (not charged)
New Air filter
New Brake Pads
Two new spark plugs
3-5 quarts of Redline 10w50
2-3 oil filters
Chain Lube
Chain Cleaner
White grease and/or Belray grease
Spool of 18GA wire
PosiTaps/PosiLocks
Liquid electical tape
Gaffer tape
Gorilla Tape
Zip ties
Windows laptop (to program Rowe PDM60)
Backup GPS (Garmin 396 or Montana 700i)
Assorted Bolts

Short of bringing a spare engine, what am I missing?

Spare fuel? Manuals? Fuel filter and O-rings? JB Weld?

There's a lot there that seems like overkill, but it won't be if you (or someone else in the event) end up using it. Be sure to bring a spare key, and a second pair of underwear.

Carrying 4 gallons of fuel with me during the run. Hadn't considered a fuel filter. I've got some o-rings and JB Weld.

I bought a van to run support (currently in the shop because the A/C compressor decided to seize a couple weeks ago). I figure there's no reason to be frugal about space.

Well hopefully your chase van doesn't need a chase van!

I've been following along online as some friends are currently participating in the Australian Cannonball Classic, and something they've been putting to good use is a fluid siphon pump. I guess there's a lot of bad gas in the outback. Might be something to consider as it's not particularly easy to drain the fuel tank on the CT.

I do have a siphon pump. I don't anticipate bad gas and plan to stop at Chevrons or similar reputable stations but you never know. Carrying 4 gallons of fuel lets me be picky about where I stop, if at all.

One thought: you know those little pop-insert pins where you press the center of the pin? The ones you pop to get the air filter cover off.

10 of those. It's not strictly on the list, but it's a pain in the arse when you "can't find" one.

Also, +1 on the spare key.
